Kronobergshed was Royal Kronoberg Regiment's training field during the years 1778-1919. During the exercises, the soldiers and officers were stationed in straw huts.
A total of 137 were built during the years 1841-1889. For a while, two huts were moved to I11 in Växjö. They are now rebuilt at Kronobergshed.
At Kronobergshed, a small community grew up with a number of buildings, each for its own special purpose. The officers 'and non-commissioned officers' castle as well as the music pavilion and the food halls are long gone.
In addition to memories of life on the moor, there are still two straw huts, the hospital, the weapons magazine, the market center, the smithy and some military storage as well as some traces of roads and building remains from the time when Kronobergshed was the regiment's meeting place.
