I think we need to be a bit more specific here. Autopilot is generic and too non-specific about features/functions.
I know that the tricks others are referring to when using autopilot are of no use to me:
1) POI circling for camera is OK but not in the realm of autopilot
2) CableCam and/or WP1 to WP2 is again a trick.
Autopilot, in my definition is "mission" planning whereas an area is defined and a grid is established within the output parameters. These would be such that a prescribed overlap and frequency of camera shots is programmed and flown autonomously by the software with little or no intervention required by the pilot. This is presently available as open source (3DR-Ardupilot) AND DJI groundstation (interface with NAZA and WoKong only). I gave up and purchased a mission focused package from 3DR. It was advertised by DJI and still not delivered, so I had no choice. Yes, I'm disappointed, but now my Inspire has only a single purpose, aerial photos and video. The other machine is purposed specifically for mapping. DJI lost a sale to 3DR. They don't care. In closing, I still like my Inspire for what it does, just not the empty promises the company uses to promote their products. This is not a hijack, just stating MHO regarding "AutoPilot" |
