This never had happened before but few days ago i went through this issue.

Before taking off, my MP locked GPS and home point so i started flying my drone. But after flying for a while and when it reached some distance away from me, it showed and error that the GPS signal had been lost, since the drone was not too far from me,  i flew it back to me.

If the drone was way far away from me and similar situation occured (gps signal lost), does the return to home button work? does the drone fly back to home point if the gps signal is lost and i press return to home button?

Without GPS, your drone has no way to know where it is or how to get home.
But it's very unusual to lose GPS if your drone is out in the open with a good skyview.
If you post your flight data, it might give some clues about what the issue is.

Go to: https://www.phantomhelp.com/LogViewer/Upload/
... where you'll find instructions.
That will give a report you can post a link for the report here.
Or just post the .txt file.

The DJI unit what model ever loses with the GPS signal loss the orientation wher to return to home. You must pilot that unit to home point manually. If you get back the GPS signal then you can press the RTH button, not before.

GPS is the Global Positioning System that provides us data for navigating all vessels in air and on sea like a large net of grids. As more satellits have been received as more accurate is the navigation of these vessels. If a vessel is in a so called "GPS hole" then it must have been navigated troght compass to continue the trip. If you have telemetry on your screen during pass a GPS hole then the drone is ´nt lost at all. You must navigate with the compass out of that hole.
Did you upload the data yet?

Labroides posted a link in his reply to Phantomhelp.com.  This is a website that will give you instructions on how to retrieve your flight log.  The site will store your flight log for a while, so that others can look at the details of your flight to see what could have happened.  You will be surprised at the amount of information that comes out and how others can debug your flight to see what was going on.  Follow the link and follow the instructions on the page and then post a link back here to your flight log.

sorry for the late response.
I tried uploading the data on the provided link but since there are a lot of files and now that I had flew some flights even after that incident, I am confused which file is the one that the incident had occurred.

The date of the flight is in the file name.
Like this:  DJIFlightRecord_2020-10-05_[15-33-10].txt which would have been from Oct 5th

You posted on October 5th so look for a txt file from a couple of days before that.

It looks like you launched from a building.
Initially you flew up 35 metres where the drone was picking up 15-16 sats.
But at 1:50.4 you descended to 8 metres below the launch point and the number of satellites dropped to 7 and the drone lost GPS position holding.
This is when you would have seen the message about losing GPS.

As you climbed higher full GPS signal was restored and things were back to normal.

Where the loss of GPS occurred was between buildings.
To receive the maximum number of satellites your drone has to have a clear view of most of the sky.
When the drone descended between the buildings and lost the clear skyview, it lost too many satellites and lost P-GPS mode until you climbed higher and it could see more of the sky.

does that stat also show of the remote disconnected with drone or does it just show drone and satellite connection?

You had full control signal for the flight.
You never lost all GPS satellites, but you lost enough to have lost GPS position holding for a short time.

I just uploaded my other flight records around that date and non of them shows what had happened on that flight. My screen had shown GPS signal lost and also signal from drone to remote was disconnected but those uploaded records show nothing like that. These 2 links:

I had lost GPS signal and also RC to drone had disconnected, I had panicked for a while since drone was out of my eye sight due to some buildings but it connected again shortly.
I wanted to know what had happened that time and what caused that to happen so that I can avoid my mistake next time but I don't think I found the exact flight record data.
