If there comes a newer, slightly better version, within 1.5 years, I hope DJI makes some sort of "Upgrade program" to get it cheapter..

Last news say MM2 will arrive next month, with 4K and propellers improvements.

The Eachine EX5 mini is similar in size with more sensors to support follow me and geo tracking. I recall it is 229gm and has 4k video BUT it doesn’t have onboard SD card so not sure how that works over wifi while flying. But the point is, I think these mini drones have staying power with room for further evolution of advanced features.

Hmmmmm. Not so sure. The picture coming out of it doesnt seem good at all, add costumer service, battery life, gimbal smoothness, range, wind resistance, firmware updates, trade up, etc. and if you want activetrack, buy litchi. The tracking on the EX5 is pretty crappy and useless any way

Agreed, the point was that continued miniaturization and adding features to sub-250gm drones is very possible so why would the Mini be the end of the line given all of its positives.

in my opinion, all the features the EX5 has are a gimmick. Dji didn't put activetrack because of fools who would use it in a forest, it would crash a they would want a refund. I think they are trying to keep the price down for begginers and also not busting their better drones' sale.

I do like the photo and video hand gestures to start/stop a photo or video. It would be a nice way to get photos of my wife and me without the selfie arm stretch!

Yeah, the mini does miss the target there!

The key issue with the Mini is it cant cope with much wind as you would expect because of its size. To be honest the MA2 is a way better drone and for the extra money is the way to go

I mean thats pretty obvious. Pay more get more. But, if you look, the mini wins in... portability, weight (downside wind upside no registration) . And the cameras pretty good, and its an overall great little drone. But if you want more features, pay the extra $ and there you go. As for wind, ive flown in 12 m/s no problem. But thats what hou get if you put 249 grams in the air!

The mini is just a tool that has unique capabilities. It is so small and quiet that people are not afraid of it so you can fly places that larger drones could not.

Thanks, I'm not sure why it is so pixelated as it is a pretty high res image. I tried twice with different crops but it keeps pixelating for some reason.

Tried the avatar upload again with a different crop. Looks much better now.

You should be careful while flying with these winds. A friend of mine crashed his Mini, because he thought he could fly it with 5 Beaufort (8m/s). A gust of wind was all it took to take the little guy down.

Don't worry, i know. Im an experienced pilot, i know what im doing. In open fields only will i fly over 7m/s. If it gets taken by wind, ill land it. The thing is, every scenario is different. I didnt buy the mini cuz i was a begginner, just because it was portable. You have to judge the scenario. Your friend just got caught in a wind tunnel, got scared, made a bad desicion and crashed. Then, use the puase button and esc stop.

I didnt mean to sound stuck up or whatever, just saying that the 12 m/s tests were a caution test. I was wondering if the MM would drift in an say, unexpected gust of wind exceeding the 8 m/s wind limit. The thing is, each case is different. As i said, i know what im doing, and im very very careful with my equipment, and never exceed its limits. Anyhow, I appreciate the warning.
