Hi,

Did a check on how precise my MA2 is performing a Precision Landing (PL)
For this i uses my old Spark landing marker, only 17 cm wide.
For a PL : this time a manual takeoff (only up stick) to about 7 meters, wait few moments and fly away.

Wind gusting to 16 m/s.

Wow, i am impressed with the performance, spot on !!

MA2 can handle gusty wind great, see the 2 charts, what a difference in drone angles ; head/cross wind and tail/cross wind.

Happy many landings to you,
cheers

Nice job. Your videos are always informative and concise.

Don't you love the way it turns into the launch heading before landing? The MA2 is sure a powerhouse compared to my Minis. I was up in similar winds last week, little at ground level but 30 mph or more at 100 feet.

A lesson that I learned by trial and error: If there are obstructions nearby, increase the hover altitude to be above them. I have a lot of trees around my front yard and if I don't get above them first, the RTH is not nearly as accurate,

yes, gusty wind > 16 m/s

At the end of the flight it started to rain, "suddenly..."
Still in the air so my MA2 got really wet for a short time.....  &^$&^!$#&!

Hi,

Good question, Bypass was ON as you could see. During a RTH the icon starts to blink, mayby just to inform the user that it is working??   Mayby DJI can answer this question.

hahaha I know that feeling, I got caught a few times here as well in the rain. One minute sun is out then heavy rain, unpredictable weather in NZ.

Incredible result, thanks for sharing! Haven't tried Precision Landing but wind performance is unbelievable. I'm always surprised how steady and powerful MA2 in strong wind with gusts is. My APAS icon is blinking quite often as well...

Hi JJB*,

... very interesting and informative, overall!

You write "7 m" in the air, then fly away ...

What I'm interested in:
Is it possible to generalize this in order to achieve the best possible PL?
I mean, I would have read something about "plenty of 2 m" (... or was it 3 m ...?).

Since I also stayed at a height of about 2 - 3 m, I have noticed that PL works really well!
Of course I would like to stick to "official" recommendations ...

Frank

Hi JJB*,

hopefully the rain didn't cause the stripe in MA2 to turn red ...
I had already reported about my problem ...

... that just prompted me to take a look at the UM ...

Found:
Indeed! 7 m is the "magic number" ...

Many Thanks!

Not quite. It says it must ascend vertically 7 meters before moving horizontally. It does not say that you can't ascend more, just not less. For me, 7 meters is unreliable; 10 works in my case.

Yes, I was replying on "have read something about "plenty of 2 m" (... or was it 3 m ...?)", so I meant 7m at least (with other points mentioned in manual). I usually take-off to meet the conditions of PL despite the fact I like to land manually (so I have no experience how many meters work best).

Gary, for me 7 Meters is also not reliable most of the time so I too have adopted to 10 meters and works much, much better.
