No, there is a dealer a couple of miles away with brand new ones in stock. I'll be back in the air this weekend - and hopefully not in another tree!

I think this is what can happen when you have a lot of experience.
A brain can only focus on one thing at once so it will likely lose track of things that are 'automated'.
You focused on the flying part and forgot about checking the drone.....

Very true mate - high experience can lead to over confidence sometimes too. I'm normally such a cautious flyer and take very calculated risks - missed the trick on that one and boom!

I catch myself being less cautious and sometimes get a friendly reminder that is not right.

Yeah, if your drone doesn't have side sensors then ensure the altitude is higher than anything in the flight area when flying sideways! I learnt that one 4 years ago but hey ho, now I know why!

Plus, never rely on sensors.
They miss thin objects that can still destroy your drone (because it will fall from the sky on impact)

Very true - but that was one big tree. I need to buy a new one asap, literally write the experience off and get back in the air or I'll never fly again.

Congrats mate - that is one HUGE achievement - it'll be quite a bit longer for me but approaching 185,000 points now so may be before the year is out (if I'm still flying)

Pulled the trigger and picked up my brand new Mavic Air 2 today. All unboxed and set up and ready to fly in the morning! All looks good so far! Fingers crossed on the first batch of flights. Ones without any trees or deer

I won't lie - I was 70/30 towards pulling the trigger but I did consider throwing in the towel for a few hours! The other half took pity on me and bought the base kit as already had the accessories from the fly more combo. I sold a couple of batteries I didn't need on Ebay for £130 so back to three with one being brand new. Got two chargers, more props than I'll ever need and two RC's - the older one is being sold. So I've managed to halve the cost after getting a 6% discount from my dealer too. Still, it's a loss of around £350 so a costly mistake. If it happens again any time soon then that will be it - though I won't be doing 20MPH, 500' manual orbits at 17' AGL anymore lol - especially with trees in my line of sight - I've deleted the flight record and video from the crash - out of sight, out of mind! Still can not believe I was that ......... stupid!

And I would not have blamed you at all.

If the crash was not my fault or I was 50/50 about the MA2 then I probably would have moved on but it was a totally preventable error in judgement on my part and the MA2 is exceptional value and my favourite drone to date. Salvaging a large portion of the cost helped too. So back in the driving seat as they say but despite being a man of modest means I can not shell out hundreds of pounds on drone replacements too often. This is it now and once every four years is OK.

Same here mate.
If I would wreck mine now, it would be the end of my drone hobby for some time.
I won't buy anything new right now.
Or second hand for that matter.
