I know this has been discussed before, but I'd like fresh input if you have it.  I often have difficulty seeing what's displayed on the screen when flying.  I got the DJI sunshade and that helps in direct sunlight.  But the greater issue is that my iPhone 6s automatically dims the screen when the internal phone temp reaches a certain point.  I never had the problem with my Spark but I assume the Air 2 puts a larger demand on the processor and causes the internal temp to be higher.  Do I need to upgrade my phone or do the newest iPhones have the same issue???

I use an iPhone-11-pro with my MA2.  Brightness is as good as the “smart controller” (SC) -  both are about twice as bright as iPhone 6s and the 11pro resolution is better than the SC.  Plenty of processing power so no problem with overheating or dimming during flight.

Go to Settings -> Display and Brightness and make sure the Automatic adjustment feature is off, then adjust the brightness manually to your liking.

Yeah...I’ve previously done that...the dimming during overheating is a separate function that overrides the manual setting.  I don’t think there’s any bypass for it.

I have not updated to a Fly app drone yet, but I always set my brightness to the max and make sure I am in the shade.

I have found using the sunhood that DJI sells for the MA2 creates not only a shade over the screen for clearer visibility but indeed the whole phone. I have flown my drone in temps up to 37c this summer and my iPhone (XS) did not dim once whereas it would normally without the shade.

Hello there Rustic17. I am sorry for the trouble this have caused and thank you for reaching out. I hope that you will get the best recommendation from our fellow DJI co pilots who had experienced this matter before. In addition DJI suggests using a recommended mobile device for the DJI Mavic Air 2 for compatibility and reliability on both the said drone and on the DJI Fly application. For reference I will post the list of recommended mobile devices for the DJI Fly application. Thank you.

The Fly app now posts the iPhone SE (1st and 2nd generation) as being compatible with the MA2.  Your reference list appears to be out of date.  Thanks

Usually the heat is on one end of the phone and there is room there. If not, use an adapter mount like for a tablet. There are a multitude of types available.

Thanks for your input...I really need to update my iPhone, anyway.  The battery doesn't last like it used to and I'm always running out of memory.  I ordered the iPhone SE (2nd gen) with 128 GB of memory (versus the 64 GB I now have).  I think it will run a lot cooler and I won't have the display dimming issue.   Plus, I'll have more memory and a better battery.  Again, thanks for your help.

Same problem with my Samsung S21 Ultra. As soon as the phone heats up it dims the screen. Going to try disabling the cache to see if that keeps the phone from heating up so fast.
