Can we have this with steps that can be like 2000 for macro work?

I would use a tripod

Stability will be critical

I want the focus motor to do it's thing and stack for me 1000 images for me to merge in Photoshop.

yeah, the fact the focus wheel is computerized on the outside, you can just have it interpolate the step resolution to have great focus stacking

Is there some patent held by another company on focus stacking externally?
