ND/PL filter for Orthomosaics

Because of the glare created by the sun, the ND/PL takes this out on a sunny day.  Meaning, when you are taking a picture of a roof, instead of getting insane highlights that cut the details out, you add an ND4/PL or greater to the drones camera to get excellent shots.  I've seen the shots that the one hires me showed from someone else doing it w/ a drone that is probably Phantom 3 and they come out Way better so I had to order.

I thought the camera lens cover was a sealed unit but it's not.  It's just designed so well that it looks like it isn't but it is.

Not surprisingly, you don't know what you are talking about.
There is no reason at all to use an ND filter for shooting stills to create an orthomosaic.
The reason is obvious if you have a reasonable understanding of photography.
And a polariser won't work shooting down vertically.

It's a PL so it cuts the glare off the highlights.  Important when trying to uncover what is on the bottom of that.

That depends on the angle of the camera to the sun - they can actually cause more harm to the image than good at the wrong angle i.e polarised artifacts.

I'm quite surprised you have only just discovered that the Phantom 4 Pro has a detachable UV filter on the lens which can be removed for using ND's.?!

It's a PL so it cuts the glare off the highlights.
It's a PL so you can't align it properly relative to the sun when the camera is looking straight down.
And even if you could, it would only be working properly on every second flight run.
Forget your filters for stills and orthomosaics, they aren't helping you at all.

There's no need to prevent so much light getting to your sensor and forcing a slower shutter speed.

If you want to deal with highlights, you do that in ost processing.

I was arguing saying it doesnt matter but it does to have it.  I have already taken mad photos with none and the highlights arent good.

Killing the highlights in post is not the same.

If I showed a photo with no filter and one with everyone wouldn't respond as they would feel ashamed.  I've seen both.  Just believe it is true because if it were a life and death answer, better hope the afterlife is better from knowing the wrong thing.

I already know about shooting 90 deg from the sun but we are taking a photo straight down so we will see.

It's like communicating with a goat.
It would be so much easier if you spoke and understood English.

I'm sure a lot of your photos are quite mad.

Posting under the influence of mind-altering substances?
Did I mention talking to a goat?
