Just checking over comparative specs between the MA2, MM and M2P and noticed that DJI state the gimbal on the MA2 is motorised whereas the other two are mechanical. Does anyone know what the difference is between them?

But the MMs gimbal has motors, if you turn it on with the gimbal gaurd, it will whir very fast, audible to the ear. IDK

I know but DJI define the two separately

imo the DJI named type gimbals are mechanically   and ofcourse motorised to keep them in position.

I've googled it and appears to be different but more for hand held stabilisation. I think JJB may be right in terms of the drones

I'm not so sure. It may be a bad translation but there are different motor methods of controlling a device physically. Some use servo methods and others use DC or stepping motors. All use motors in some way. There might be some subtle distinctions here.

There's no difference at all.
The different words are just due to DJI's dodgy documentation.
