Expensive but having the added feature of being a full function tablet... I'm tempted.  Anyone go the route??  Better than the Smart Controller or Crystal Sky??

The tech specs on their website say it runs Android 8.1. I hope that information is outdated and they support newer releases and provide security updates, or that thing is essentially obsolete.

This Tablet is the way to go. It works with all drones DJI and Autel , and it is a military grade device, and this is why is running Android 8.1 No more DJI updates to the smartcontroller , not to mention the Crystalsky , both of them running limited versions of Android 6.0

Its all pretty rich for my blood, I can usually find a tree to stand under.... however, the tablet seems like a winner as far as brightness goes.  Some manufacturer out there should corner this at a lower price and clean up.

Why is it obsolete? Both of my drones run fine on a tablet with Android 7 now.

Because Android 11 is current, and many devices running older versions don’t get updates or patches for security vulnerabilities. You also may not be able to install some apps because the device doesn’t meet the minimum spec.

That’s not to say that the device suddenly doesn’t work anymore, just that it’s useful lifespan is limited if the vendor doesn’t support it with updates.

I  do not see your point  DJI Fly ,Go 4 and  Autel explorer APP require Android 4.4 and UP. And the Tablet is on 8.1 .
Also older Android versions are by far more stable than new ones with less bloatware at GaryDoug mention.

As I mentioned in an earlier comment, the lack of updates and security patches is what worries me. The ability to to hijack an Android device with persistent malware by exploiting web browser vulnerabilities, a specially-crafted text message or even unsolicited Bluetooth packets is real.

Dumbest answer I ever heard. Android 7 and 8 are the more robust and stable versions until today. Newer versions are full of bloatware and have holes everywhere (that is why they need security patches), and this is the reason why the military and the security corps use the older version on their devices.

Full disclosure : I am a Android APP developer.    Ask to any APP developer on the xda developer forum about all the issues on Android 10

Then you are surely familiar with MITRE’s lengthy CVE list (http://cve.mitre.org/cgi-bin/cvekey.cgi?keyword=Android+). If you have a device that’s not getting updates for the OS or the installed apps, you are at significant risk when connected to the Internet. You don’t even need to be on the Internet to be vulnerable.

Waiting on the release of the rumored Mini 2 and further research... or, if pending release of Remote ID by the FAA causing me to abandon the hobby!!!

Mine arrived today.  I will fly with it this weekend and if all goes well I'll sell my smart controller.

Interesting. Not a selling point for the Tripltek. The tablet on the chair looks to have a much better image than the Tripltek.

When can we get a Windows version of the Fly app?....;-)

I don’t think there was much difference in the image quality when they were at similar angles to the sky. There was a difference in the color temperature and contrast (the Tripltek seemed to show more detail in the clouds), but the glare on the Tripltek at the beginning of the video was because it was reflecting more of the sky.

I noticed that big difference as they were moved around in many positions. No contest. But then, the tablet is a Windows one and probably more expensive.

Also notice how the image is cropped more in the Tripltek but not on the tab.
