Not really,  at low tide you can see the sand on the beach and the miles of fishing line that's been discarded.

When the tide is lower there are a lot of oyster shells on the beach and from time to time I collect a few and make shell stuff from them like keyring.  They polish up nice but smell awful when being cut.

Back in the day, when we moved to France, we found a bin full of oyster shells in the chicken sheds at the far end of the paddock. Apparently the old guy who had the place before us used to grind them up and give it to the chooks as grit.

Yes oyster shells are good for that and fertilising the soil too.

Mussels in a Roquefort sauce with chips and a half litre of Leffe, in Brugges and again in Ghent, is one of my lasting memories of a trip round Belgium. Magnificent.

A good few years ago when the Le Shuttle was cheaper I would ofter wake up on a Saturday morning and decide over coffee to have lunch in Bruges,  hope in the car and off we went,  park in that underground carpark to emerge in that lovely city.   A stroll along the river and then mussels en frite.  Oh where did those carefree days go?

Did you ever see the black comedy "In Bruges" with Brendan Gleason and Colin Farrell?  Great film.  The bell tower that figures in the final scenes - I climbed and stood in the very spot shown, years before the film came out. Fantastic views from up there.
