Even without the sticker it will become almost impossible for regular law enforcement to check the drone in the field, they ultimately would need to confiscate it to check properly and they can't do that without a valid reason.
TBH I think this whole EASA thing will, in reality, only affect people who fly their drones in or around congested areas. I can't imagine police officers patrolling through national and country parks en mass to catch a drone pilot flying a 570g drone 50m from someone. I have never, ever been approached by any police or local authority employees since I started flying. Never been asked to show my flyer or operator ID's to anyone. I've decided to ignore the whole thing and will continue to fly my MA2 next year exactly how I am now and no, I'm not sitting an irrelevant exam and paying £250 for the privilege. I will renewal my registration and flyer ID as and when and follow the CAA drone code but that is it. |
