Not planning on it.  I'm really keeping my eye out for the Mavic 3 Pro (assuming that they build that somewhere down the road).

No I wouldn't.

As far as I can see from the leaked informations, there is no compelling reason for me to replace my Mini with the Mini 2.

I am not interested in Occusync nor the extended range it may provide, I am to keep the drone in VLOS by law.

I am not interested either in 4K, that requires a lot more disk space and processing power to edit the video data. Raw support? nah, I don't even use raw on my Camera.

Increased wind resistance is of little use for me, I don't fly when it's windy anyway and keep the drone nearby in all circumstances. Besides, we're under lockdown (again) here due to COVID19.

The only thing that would have been interesting for me would have been a follow me mode, but that's unlikely to come from DJI considering the MM2 won't have obstacle avoidance sensors either. So I'd rather try Litchy than spending another several hundred Euros of my hard earned money on the Mini 2 (sorry, people keep saying that the Mini is a cheap little drone, I disagree, I reckon it is expensive for what it is).

So, thanks, but no thanks for me.

Depends on the features.. 1 site even said, it has follow-me.. All others said, it didnt?! Also I want the meteor quickshot from the MA2. I dont care about 4k or raw photos.
And the other question is, how cheap is an upgrade from DJI, if you give the old back.

I agree. The price differential between Mini 2 and Air 2 is not that big a step for the added features and performance..

The big difference between MA2 and Mini2: THE WEIGHT and enough regulations based around 250g.

Also another question: Was there EVER a successor of any DJI drone, within a year? It kinda feels like Mavic Mini1 owners were beta-testers for the now better Mini2 version.Thats not a cool move from DJI.

Yes, accepted in many parts of the world but in UK and EU, if I understand the regs that change on Dec 31st correctly, any drone with a camera will require registration regardless of weight.

That's an interesting comment.  I don't think I can disagree with it either.  However, with that said, I am very happy with my original Mini and plan on keeping it.  I'm still do expect to upgrade somewhere down the road.  If it were today, it would be a Mavic Air 2, but I'm kinda waiting to see if / when a Mavic 3 Pro comes out.  Hopefully that will have the best of the 2 Pro and MA2...

There is another option: keep the original Mini and add a Mini 2. That's what I plan to do.

I don't know why everyone gives companies grief for improving their products. There is no "set" product delivery schedule. The cell phone companies release once a year. Does that make you a "beta" for a new feature like 5G support in the iPhone12? I assert not. The original mini is a fine product on its own. It is what it is. A lot of us bought them knowing full well what its capabilities were and that there would likely be an improved model in the future. I haven't even owned my Mini for a month but I'm extremely pleased with it. I'll get the Mini 2 for its improvements. Maybe let friends fly the original or keep it in my car so I'm always ready to go.

I will not trade my Mini for the Mini 2 at least in the next 2 years.
I think that Mini already has great functionalities and do not need any of the Mini 2.
Anyway, dependes also on the price...
Have safe flights!

Well i like the occusync option, but I'm absolutely happy with the Mini 1, so far I think I did not use the full capacity out of it, so I will stick with Mini 1, as well is my first drone so I have a lot of sympathy for it ......as well like some other pilot's I think i would prefer the MA2 for an upgrade then Mini2.......

Wow DJI confirming no Waypoints on the Mavic Air 2 is devastating to everyone who's been waiting after the mini's waypoint abilities were squashed do to the speculation of the lack of OA sensors but the MA2 to lack Waypoints is Crazy.

I already know they weren't coming to the mini let alone the mini 2 but that was the only big upsell of the MA 2 for me was being able to do Waypoints, RIP the Mavic 3 at this rate.

In my opinion, about what we have today:
Pros:
Ocusync, 4K (but camera still 12mp), better wind resistance, stronger propellers, better finish (without those EVA foams on the arms)
Cons:
LiPo battery, has no OA (but it would increase the weight, ok), control disproportionate to its size (I think you can get used to it)
News:
Front led, rear led and the bag that I believe is the best way to store the drone, not forcing the propellers either from above or below.
In summary, $ 100 more in the combo version, it would be worth the exchange, however, here in Brazil due to the devaluation of our currency it will be very expensive for what it offers and it would be more worth it for the used Mavic Air 2, many in excellent condition and little use.

I've been back and forth a lot, I think it's going to come down to how much better ocusync will be in my area. If I can fly to where I want then Virtual Stick way points are not really a concern, but if it's realistically the same distance I'm getting with WifI then I might step down to a MA1. I often wonder if DJI isn't going to come out with a spark successor not much longer down the road, price between the new mini and the MA 2 but be smaller like the mini and include OA and a better camera.

Occusync is a huge step up from wifi and it doesn't matter where you are flying from.  I have thought about it long and hard for a drone that is 249g with occusync and same amount of flight time with 4k is probably a good plus.

I'm not sure what issues DJI could have since occusync 2.0 has ran flowlessly in their previous drones.

Once you fly occusync you'll never look back.  Occusync doesn't mean you'll fly out of VLOS it will just have a better connecton between drone and RC.
