I bought this about 2 years ago (when it first came out) - would it still be elgible for free service?
so - is it actually a hardware error then?
You may refer to the DJI after-sales service polices from the website below and check the "Warranty Period of Main Parts*"

If the product is within the warranty period, then the warranty service will be provided depends on the result of the diagnosis, otherwise, there will be a quotation for you.
