Hi,
I have just bought a new M300RTK and set it up. All firmware is up to date, but no matter where I start up, I get this "Unable to take off" Message in the Pilot App flight screen. Under the Avionics section, it says "Flight Restrictions. Unable to fly in this area (0x16100091)".

I am in Hong Kong, and we have tried the drone in a number of locations around the place. None of the locations are near a no-fly zone or restricted area. But we get this message every time, and the drone cannot fly.

How do we resolve this? What is going on?

This is NOT a GEO Zone issue. We shouldn't need to unlock a GEO Zone every time we startup the drone, and no matter what location we are in. This is ONLY required near no-fly or restricted areas. We are NOT near any restricted area? There must be another explanation.

Hello, i have the same problem, DJI support can't help me for 3-4 days. I trying to downgrade/update drone, remote controller, dji pilot. Nothing is help me. I connect drone to another remote controller, but error didn't lost. Dji support say that the reason of error maybe is my drone not global version (i bought it in Belarus), but on my box there is a six l sticker that drone is global version. What can we do with it?

There are no solutions for our problem now.
Copter writes logs when you power on it. You can found it in remote controller and in DJI Assitants in your PC, when you connect drone to it.

This seems like a major issue that's affecting several users. Seems to me they have sent out region-locked M300RTK aircraft that have ended up in the wrong country. Why is this drone region-locked anyway? There is no need for it!! Maybe mainland China I can understand, where their mapping and GPS parameters are different, but there's no need for the M300 to be region-locked for the rest of the world!!

A major cock-up by DJI...  totally unprofessional for a company that professes to be serving the enterprise market!!

I'm based in Hong Kong, and my M300 is unable to take off anywhere in Hong Kong.

I have tried installing Pilot PE, but the same issue persists. DJI please keeps us updated on this issue, I’m starting to warn others of the potentially fatal flaw with firmware update or the M300 itself.

So far I’ve had no contact from DJI support or any answers to what appears to be a major problem that has at least grounded my M300 and preventing any work.

Has anyone else heard anything from DJI Support that indicates they’re aware of the problem?

DJI tech support has just replied with this to try. I don’t know if it works, because my M300 has now gone back to the dealer. You can try it and see if it works...

1. Ensure that your drone's firmware version is v01.00.02.11 or v01.00.02.13 and the remote controller firmware version is v01.00.02.13. The pilot app version is 1.9.0R.

Not, if your remote controller's firmware version is ​V01.00.0213 but the app is not V01.00.0213, please turn on the remote controller->Go to Settings->Apps->DJI Pilot app->disable. Then there will be a message about whether you want to restore it to the default version. Please confirm it and the app will be the V1.9.0R version.

2. Please install this pilot app to your remote controller which can be downloaded from the below link.

Please put this app on an SD card, plug it into the remote controller, and open this apk file on the remote controller to finish the installation.

4. Then, please check whether you can fly the drone or not.

If you can fly it properly, please refer to step 1 to make the app back to V1.9.0R.

Glad you got it working! Thank the tech guys at DJI for figuring this out (although there’s clearly a bug in  one of the firmware versions, which shouldn’t have been there in the first place).

You will have to contact DJI tech support (or your dealer). There is a way to fix it, but it seems to require a special version of DJI Pilot. The link they send expires all the time.

I just bought a dji mini and if I would have know I would be paying $849 for this to not take off even in my house because I am in a hick town of 200 ( Nakina Ontario Canada)  with a restricted flight area over my house I would never have bought it.  What good is it if I can’t even use it in the house or backyard.  I don’t plan on interfering with the 2 flights ( Cessna’s )  out of this town. Getting a return and will never buy a dji product again. And to think I was saving up for a bigger, more expensive drone from dji. . D oesnt J ump an Inch.  
My 1.2 million YouTube subscribers will be getting a video about this.
Look for it soon.

What GeoZone type are you in? Fairly easy to go through the unlocking process of a GeoZone especially if it is a blue authorization zone.
