Hey all,
i played around with my pocket 2 in gimbal mode "locked" and was confused why the camera starts to turn around so early. We know there is a freedom of movement by 90° in both directions so why does it do that?

Some pictures to explain what i mean:

1. handle turns around less then 45° - all stable

1

1

2. handle turns around more then 45° - camera starts to roll

2

2

3. handle turns more then 60° - camera flips position

3

3

Could the controllable range mentioned in the specs got something to do with it?

  • Controllable Range
  • Pan: -230° to +70°
    Tilt: -100° to +50°
    Roll: ±45°

  • Mechanical Range
  • Pan: -250° to +90°
    Tilt: -180° to +70°
    Roll: ±90°

Some questions about that:
1. Will it be possible to change the angle before the camera starts to roll because the mechanical limit is not reached jet?
2. Could you implement a functionality that the camera does not flip around and stays in the mechanical stop?

All in all i am asking because i want to make some shots during flight where the horizon stays stable and the cockpit turns around. At the moment i am limited to fly the turns with 45°.

Thank you

Hey Papierflieger,

That is well known limitation from the old Osmo Pocket era.
Its Roll motor is so tiny, it cannot bare the stress going over the +-45degree.
And the mechanical flip to 90degree is for the horizontal video...

But actually there is a work around for you.
Using "fleshlight mode". Lay your Pocket horizontally. (Screen face up)
Then your Pan motor now works as Roll motor and it has much wider range to cover your needs.

Hope it works for you.

Hey Tide,

that is really sad to hear. Maybe the pocket 3 will have an improvement.
The work around is so simple, to easy to know. I will try that out!

Thank you very much.
