Thanks for sharing! My new Mini 2 arrived on Friday the 13th. So far having a blast learning to use this drone and the software. First few flights were in windy weather with gusts up to max of about 38 mph and it flew well, though the gusts did buffet it quite a bit. In steady 20mph winds one would be hard pressed to know while reviewing video that it was windy out, only dead giveaway was the flag fully horizontal in my film. Trick I learned from long distance shooting, if flag is horizontal steady 20 to 25 mps winds, if flag up at about 45 degree it is constant 10-12 mph wind. So far I am quite happy, but I am quickly seeing I will need a bright skin for it to see it at any type of distance away, the size and color cause it to blend quickly into the sky.
Last night, I was out of work at 4pm home by 420 pm, and the fall sun was quickly setting. I had zero winds, so first opportunity to fly quickly in no winds and at dusk. I had to put the 4k camera into full manual mode for it to see properly, auto mode just was too dark. I quickly made these adjustments and than flew it up to 144 feet which with high winds in earlier flights was highest altitude achieved to date where I felt safe with new drone. I pushed further up to 244 feet on this outing. I was welcomed with a beautiful view of nearby lake and the mountains, in full beauty of 4k. This was I believe my 7th flight with it and 2nd flight with the new tablet holder for it. I spent the next 6 minutes doing some basic flight manuevers getting used to manually flying this small drone. Seems like I was catching on very fast, jumped my game up to some more complex manuevers and minutes later landed for the night.
I am looking forward to Spring and calm winds when I aim to push my flying abilities further. I can already tell that I am hooked for life on this new hobby. All of my flights to date being a rookie at this have stayed within 100 meters horizontally from me and under new max of 244 feet. I am learning and I do not want to push the safe envelope, I want to ensure I have many flight hours under belt and am use to this craft before pushing further away. The size of unit and my 50 year old eyesight require that I skin it with a bright skin to make it easier to visually track drone at any type of distance, this seems to be a necessity for my old poor eyes.
