I just realized there is no way to zoom with extension rod, I believe a FW update or SW should not be a problem to get this to work, it's the only thing missing on the extension rod. Unless of course I'm missing something.

Yes, it's missing for now, but DJI promised an update soon.

Is there a way to zoom on the mobile phone when using the do it all handle too? So not with the handle buttons, but the phone screen?

Yes, there's zoom "button" on the Mimo app screen (which works with or without the extension rod).  So assuming you have the phone in use with the rod, lack of a physical control for zoom isn't that big a deal - indeed, personally I prefer having full use of the joystick rather than the odd way they implement zoom normally.
