Yes,  it is a bit odd.

You can understand the road winding up the hill, to ease the gradient. But the transverse paths are less obviously in need of that.

Actually,  I did have a couple of issues,  M2P got a muddy bottom on one instance and another it picked up some dirt on the props and complained about the motor power.

That was one of the things I bought when I got the MP.
But.
I never used it and sold it a couple of months ago.

Never really used mine either,  I usually hand launch on sand etc,  but I might custom something that will fit in my combats side pocket.  Ex German military sized pockets.

I first thought it would be super handy, but when I really need one, it is not heavy enough to stay flat.
So I end up doing just like what you describe.
