I sincerely doubt there will be any retrospective classification,  it would be impossible to enforce.

It's all very much up in the air. Glad I just sold my Mavic Air 2 for £850

Nothing for a while - taking delivery of my new iPhone 12 Pro Max today so that will keep me occupied for a few days then I may just get the Mini 2 FMC for the fun of it.

I got my iPhone 12 Pro Max on Friday.  very pleased with its bigger display and it still just about fits in the M2P controller.

Yes mate - it’s awesome! 800 nits, 6.7” screen, 5G and the CPU is super quick! Love the camera too! Really impressed.
Pick up my mini 2 fly more combo in the morning too - strange now having a phone worth twice the price of my drone lol

Why would I sell a nearly brand new MA2 to buy a refurb of the same drone

All sold and I now have the Mini 2 on its first charge! Looks cool

I just spoke to a DJI representative who said they will be offering retrospective CE marking on the Mavic air 2 for current owners. This should help with the longevity of the product and sounds like a more positive future for this model

Love it mate - such a cool little drone and handled the winds really well. Very surprised as was half expecting a toy but more fool me. Going to enjoy flying this one.

Accept that the UK nor the EU have announced they have back tracked on the no retrospective certification yet.  And without it being factory marked how could it be enforced or verified in the field.

Thanks very much - I always switch off OA (learnt to fly on a Phantom 3 Professional - didn't exist then) and I only ever used AT to test it. Being able to fly where there are people present is more important to me

I had the original iPhone and then the top version every year since.  Used to queue at the store on launch day but for the last few years I just order for launch day delivery. So far Ive been lucky to get in quick enough for a launch day delivery.

I remember those days - I bought my 12 pro max on line for the first time this year and it was delivered the next day. Went for the 256GB as the 128GB was out of stock. Nice to have a couple of hundred spare gigs to fill up. I usually upgrade every other year.

Hi guys, newbie here.

I'm sending you screenshot from the Polish Aviation Authority official website, that says that it will be possible to grant old drones with new CE certificates. Also a quick translation:

dated as of 02.10.2020
We would like to kindly inform you that the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has informed the national aviation authorities that after December 31, 2020 it will be possible to convert unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) already placed on the market into UAVs marked with classes in accordance with the Commission Delegated Regulation ( EU) 2019/945 of 12 March 2019 on unmanned aircraft systems and third country operators of unmanned aircraft systems.
EASA describes two conversion options:
1. modernization by the manufacturer by recalling products, updating hardware or software as part of the production control procedure, assigning a new serial number, affixing a class identification label, issuing a new CE declaration.
2. end user software update by owner software update under full manufacturer control, manufacturer sending new CE declaration, class identification label and new serial number plate to owner, and owner affixing class identification label and new serial number plate to UAV.
Please note that it is the manufacturer who implements measures to ensure that the UAV conversion process will ensure that the UAV complies with the provisions of Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2019/945.

ok, looks like we'll get sorted. new CE labels and all good
btw, would never replace my ma2 with mini of any version, its just cant cope with winds as ma2 does plus no sensors which makes it dangerous in some situations
just my 5cents

Actually, having owned both the Mini 2 handles winds just as well as the MA2

The main problem is (IMPOV) that CE labeling should have been available when MA2 was comming on market... online training and EU registration still not available at this moment.
I like my MA2 as well BTW.

I passed the EASA online training and I hope for C1 certification of MA2 as well (Please DJI, put some pressure on EASA authorities!). I will keep the C1 rules for the moment ("no flying expected over uninvolved people, if it hapens, it should be minimised"), which is the way I was (and would be) flying anyway.

The number of regulations the EU and surrounding countries have is cruel.  Here in the US you find an unrestricted airspace and follow the Part 107 exemption for hobby and you are good to go.

Part 107 is similar to the new A2 CofC and the restrictions are very similar.

I think this is word semantics.

I interpret this as the UK/EU AUTHORITIES will not simply issue retrospective certificates.

However I believe that what DJI is looking at is an "exchange" process. you send them the old MA2 and receive a re-worked MA2 in return (for a fee). This is different as you are effectively getting a "new" MA2 certified from the manufacturer, indeed it has been rumoured that you would not get "your" own MA2 back, instead you get someone elses that has also been submitted to the refurb program.

All conjecture and rumour, but would align the authorities response ("NO") with the rumoured manufacturer response ("YES")

The original EASA has a mechanism called re-manufactured which is exactly as you describe.
