Completed my first flight and I'm a little confused why I'm getting 22mph in sport mode.  Are the first few flights speed limited?

There was another person who tested it a low altitude and it was slower, maybe for safety sake. I think above 20-30 feet up try again!

I was flying to both into and away from the wind at 390 ft and it was consistently 20 - 22mph.   On my next  flight I'll double check that both the controller and app are in sport mode.

I just checked my flight data center, one flight I hit  16.1 m/s which is about 36mph! I flew at about 40 meters in height. Like I said it might be limited to slower speeds at lower heights.

On Sport mode my average flight speed is 14-15 m/s (that is 32-33 mi/h and 50-54 km/h). And my intention is never to reach top speed. Try to flight above 25m (82 ft.) and in a "clean area" for a radius of 100m (328 ft.). Happy safe fly speeding

Problem resolved itself, got up to 35 mph on 2nd flight.  The first flight was speed restricted to 22 mph either from a glitch or because DJI thinks 35 mph on first flight = lots of crashes.

That's some great news! 35 on your 2nd flight is still a risky one if you intend for reaching top speed let us know what you achieved keep flying safely

Flying 35 mph on his second flight is risky? I wouldn't think so

I have the Mavic Air 2 and noticed that since the new software update 11/11 that the close to ground speed is a lot slower than I remember.  I agree with videoeditman about raising your altitude to get a more accurate top speed.

In addition the DJI Mini 2 has a Max Speed ( near sea level, no wind ) of 16 m/s (S Mode), 10 m/s (N Mode), 6 m/s (C Mode). Thank you and fly safe always.

You must first become familiar with the handling of your drone for SAFETY reasons and then start Sport Mode and speeding. One flight is not enough IMO

Are these grounds speeds or air speeds?

I believe the readings from the drone are Air Speed in that if you fly with the wind and get a higher speed because it is based on the ground speed +/- wind speed.

Also the specs are
In addition the DJI Mini 2 has a Max Speed ( near sea level, no wind ) of
16 m/s (S Mode)
10 m/s (N Mode)
6 m/s (C Mode)
Because of the statement that is ground speed +/- 0 wind , which means air speed = ground speed with no wind.
But because DJI doesn't know the wind or direction you are flying they can only give the ground speed!
But the drone should give accurate speed readings based on GPS, so our display is Air Speed!
