I always fit glass lens and screen protectors from new to my equipment.  On my SLRs it was a UV filter usually.

I've just noticed that with a glass protector on the lens of my P2 there is not enough lip left to secure the wide-angle lens.  It just sits on top.

I can't see any option at the moment, other than not putting a len protector on.

Any thoughts?
