Many like me are having numerous problems on 1.2.0 and later. Lets share about our devices and leys find the solution. Idea came from @GaryDoug.


Plz share the data: about if the app works and what device you're using and how much space there is on it. More info is always better as well!

Me: Samsung S9+  10gb space,  fly app 1.1.10 works

1.2.0 and newer doesnt.

No cached video.

I use a screen recording app, but it doesn't work without it either.

I had never installed a version higher than 1.1.8 and never had any errors, but due to the error message of the 1.2.x version I can also imagine that it could have something to do with wifi. So whether the band is 2.4 or 5.8 GHz and whether automatic channel selection or a fixed channel is set and if so, which one. Perhaps the error only occurs with certain channels or in a certain channel range.

I dont think so, the drone response was quick.

tested on xiaomi redmi note 8t, mi pad 4, asus zenpad 3s Z500 M with an average of 15 giga of free minimum none of the last two versions work correctly, version 1.1.10 and previous version work

Thanks! Are they all supported? @GarDoug has an UNSUPPORTED device than works, maybe DJI wrote the list backwards.

no, none are on their list. but they always work with the MM

MA2 - 01.00.0340 (not updated to newest one)
Android 10 (Moto G8)

Yesterday 2h flight time. No problem notice with MA2.

Funny, they get the 500€, they dont make any Major upgrade since 9 months, and you request that we make the work for them...

Hi Scarves UP.

I am curious to see what the results are and what kind of devices people are using with the DJI Fly app, whether on the compatible list or not.

I am currently running this version of the DJI Fly app on my NOKIA 6 TA-1033 phone, DJI Fly v1.2.1 (898-googleplay).

I have not had any of the major issues that others have been having, i did initially get a message pop up warning of interference before i took off when testing down near my mum's house but it was literally that quick i had to go and view it in my flight data center to see what the message actually was, my message did not did not stay there as others have reported though.

I am going to try in the next day or two with the weather permitting trying it out more extensively where i live as i have got industrial buildings and the like on one side and nothing but open farmers fields and wood's on the other side so it will be intresting to see how and what may happen.

I also use AZ Screen Recorder, although i do not use it that often as i have found that it can lag out my live video feed in the controller, although, i am also thinking of trying to get one of the phones in DJI's " Compatible List " that has got a lot more RAM and more Storage on the internal, only if i can find one cheap enough though as i am not in any chance going out and spending or laying down £800 on one, hell, i could get a Mavic Air 2 Fly More Combo for that price lol.

My current storage situation is that i have got 96GB Combined, but my current storage is at 36.16 GB, however, separately in the storage section my storage currently stands at.

Internal Storage = 29.78 GB Used Of 32 GB.
64GB SDXC Drive = 6.37 GB Used of 64.00 Gb.

I have two Mini's and use an unapproved device (Tab A) on one and an approved device (S6) on the other. I have no issues with either Mini.

As both orginal Mini and Air 2 users had problems with the DJI Fly v1.2.0 I thought this might be helpful.  I have a Mavic Air 2, IOS 14, iPhone 11, DJI Fly v1.2.1.

Everything for me worked perfectly with the exception of DJI Fly v1.2.0 and the first RC update to add the Mini 2 on 11/5. Both independently had lots of problems.  From what others are saying on here DJI resolved the Air 2, Mini 2 and original Mini issues in DJI Fly v1.2.1.  

The problem seems to be related to DJI Fly v1.2.0 which is outdated, accross the spectrum of all the drones.  I personally think it was rushed out to add support for the Mini 2 with out signifcant testing.

If I can find the time, I will try to do a comparison test with my Mini this week. It is now  using 1.2.0 on an unapproved tablet. I will test the range it takes to lose comms. Then I will update to 1.2.1 and repeat the test over the same route. Disclaimer: There is a lot of WiFi interference in my area so the range will probably be small for both.

Out of curiosity: how much range do you get in urban areas? I get about 4/5 - 1 mile in downtown Minnesota.

DJI Fly App v1.2.1 (898-googleplay), no cached video (use AZ Recorder), WIFI band set to Auto, Sync Flight Data to Off (which is why my flight distance only shows inaugural flight info before I got security smart and turned data to off)

RC and MM are on most current firmware versions

I’m not experiencing any issues such as video feed, signal interference or disconnects.  Flights have been over water, in the country and in the city.  Confirmed no issues using flight logs also.  Only issues I had was on 1.2.0. which also affected my MA2.

I haven't flown in any urban/city areas as of yet. I'm sorta suburban/country, but still densely populated. I think the farthest I got was about 1.2 miles over the Gulf but I turned back before signal was lost because I thought it was probably coming soon.

When I use a WiFi meter on my phone, the screen is flooded with a lot of stations.

Got it. Thanks. The most ive ever gotten over a lake was 2.1 miles before i lost VLOS. The FCC Mm's range isnt that bad, its just the CE Mini.
