Hey guys - Out in the desert today doing some filming in Joshua Tree. It's supposed to reach 98F today as the high. I know the bird is rated to a max temp of 40C (105F) but has anyone had similiar expierence?

Last time I was flying out east in San Diego County and the temp was around 95 my iPad shut off due to overheating. The bird kept flying but I started to worry for a split second as my screen went black and the iPad reset.

Although it didn't happen, the bird will keep flying without the iPad/App running as long as the Tx is still on right?

Thank you,

Scott

I did some testing here in Phoenix a couple of weeks ago at 108f. Batt temp reached 138f and the motors got extremely hot. Plus with the heat the air thins out and found I need extra thrust while flying, this cut down on fly time. Be careful in this heat!!

I don´t think this is a battery issue ... the electronics get over heated ...
The electronics inside the bird has 4 fans moving air around them and also an internal fan I think ... the iPad would be more sensitive from being in direct sunlight!
Also ... temperature should be a bit cooler higher up in the air?

Anyways ...
The bird will fly as long as the RC is running ... actually don´t even need the pilot app to start.
And they say that there is a fan inside the Tx.
But I would keep it in the shade as much as possible ...
