My Mini 2 bit me when I was trying to hand catch it. I lowered the joystick too much before my hand was completely underneath.

Now, if JJB is as good as everyone says he is, he should be able to look at my flight log data and tell what blood type I have.  (wink)

Oh yeah. I'm sure I'm far from the first to get dinged by the props.

Thats gotta hurt!

It smarted a little.

After taking the photo, my trunk lid looked like I had just assaulted someone and threw them in the trunk. = P

Had your blood through a special FRAP+ blood colour scanner ; O POS and No COVID.   ;-)

But analyse is more trustfully using the real thing..

Ouch.  As I live on a 62' boat I always hand launch and recover and yes I have been nicked once also.  I'm really cautious if it is a bit windy, especially with the Mini, and reach out as far as my arm can.  Lesson learned and keep on flying.

Did you reach out to catch the drone or hold you arm up and then land in your hand?

I just mistakenly brought it down too fast so my hand hadn't gotten underneath all the way before the blade prop got my pudgy fingers.

Sorry to see your injury. I know how you feel! Similar but not a quad, I hit the back of my hand with a pusher prop flying wing a few weeks ago. It severed my extensor tendons. I am having to go for an operation next week to reattach them. They will have to take a tendon from my wrist to fix them. Worst of all - no flying for at least a month! I would put a pic on but it is a bit more graphic than yours lol. Please take care all when flying. I will now be wearing a glove! Iain

I used a landing pad when I got my MIni 1, until I realized hand catching vs ground landing is what separates the pro's from the newbies.   If you want to maintain your pro reputation and still play it safe, slow it down with Cine mode for the last 10 ft.

I prefer to leave it on the ground for the moment... it's faster and easier for me, just find a good surface or put a portable helipad.

I almost tried two times already, but this drone is so small that it's super easy to miss the handcatch and touch a rotor with a finger, so I just ended landing on the floor or on any object.  I use the Mode 3 controler scheme and it flies like most helicopters in videogames like the Battlefield series, so I can fly prety well at low altitude. I suppose Mode 2 or 1 are for traditional RC hobbysts.

not sure i understand the reason for hand-catching unless you just want to be cool.  i know there is talk about debris and all but is that real?  every time i go flying there are about a dozen landing so why would i want to take that risk?  i have done it a couple of time so i am familiar with it but i don't see it as being cool unless you are obviously standing somewhere you can't land.

I guess like tall grass or something that would make it an issue with the propellers.

Gives you more mobility as you don't need to find a spot to land or takeoff, mantains the drone free from dust or sand and protects the propellers from hitting pebbles or cutting grass.
I can takeoff from a big table in my garden, but when going to the beach for example, it's just easier to do it by hand.
