I recently learned of this option we can use to generate higher quality video streams,  I was curious if many people are doing this.

I am content to work in 1080 resolution and Im rapt with the picture quality, I project my video to fill a 130 inch screen and its VERY sharp.

If you're doing this please let me know; does it merit the post production time?

4K downgrade to 1080p is more than enough..For me log mode is not necessary unless you are into some serious film making that you have to push settings in post production..

Yes, that is my inclination; to use the function for a special occasion, say for example Nasa resumed shuttle launches and asked me to record the first take off....
