Very much a bonus for me too

I totally get that.
Latest development from NL : some cities have joined a taskforce to 'take back rights over their skies'...
Serious drone pilots see this as a big issue for their hobby since it will mean more restrictions for drones.

Great video AJ.. I was stunned on what MM2 are capable of doing especially the zooming function for which can't be performed with MM..

Agree, he always does a great job.

It is easy to forget what he did in this vid - he placed a drone weighing c.240g nearly three miles away from his position in a moderate breeze with no signal issues at all and got it back to his hand in one piece with plenty of juice spare...

That would ordinarily be regarded as a very successful range test but this is a man who put a Mavic 2 Pro more than six miles away and landed it at his feet on 0%. People want a repeat of that nail biting moment but forget he buys these drones with his own money and it is hard to balance that nail biting moment and actually losing the drone.

I'd like to see someone test the Ocusync range on a one way trip, so a return flight doesn't have to be factored in. Has anyone done this? They could drive 3-5 miles away from their home, and then fly the drone to their house for a secure recovery later. That way we know the full range of the Ocusync.

Interesting it is. Not really positive for 'us'.
But I get their point.
You don't want drones flying all over the place in congested areas.

It's a difficult piece of tech to regulate. So many variables for authorities to take into consideration.

I have pulled the trigger.
I'm off the fence.
If all goes well, I should be up and flying soon

So I've seen - good for you mate.

Do you have a spare USB-A to USB-C cable and a 18w charger? You only get the one with the fly more combo so have to charge the batteries and remote separately. I suggest getting another charger and cable to charge the RC simultaneously if you haven't or you'll spend most of day 1 waiting for batteries to charge. I had two chargers for my MA2 but kept one back knowing I would be getting the Mini 2 after selling it and needed it for the remote. You can buy the cheaper 18w mini charger from DJI too (its £14 here).

I don't have a 18w charger as of now, but I'm probably going to buy some accessories later on (this time only when I know I need them, not when I think I need them )
The cable should not be a problem

Wise decision.
All I have (in addition to the fly more combo and my massive iPhone) is a sandisk extreme pro 128gb micro sd card with 3.0 reader, PGYTech advanced landing pad (though I mainly hand launch and catch these days unless it's windy), the official DJI sunhood (not that I use it anymore as the iPhone 12 Pro Max is 800 nits) and the extra cable and charger. Thats it. I'm not going to bother with ND filters as the gimbal is too delicate IMO.

From all the extra stuff I bought on forehand for my MP I only used the SD cards (of course) and stick protector.
The landing pad, drone pouch, tab holder, ND filters (very sometimes), spare props and lens hood seemed like a wise purchase, but....
Were not used at all (or only a few times)

Yep - micro SD card, landing pad and a second charger/cable with the fly more combo and that is all you will need unless you intend to fly indoors (which I don't) then get the prop guards.

I sold my landing pad about a year ago, as I never used it (and when I needed it, I found it too light and it would not stay on the ground)
So I reverted to hand landings....
But maybe I decide if I need one with the smaller MM2

The PGYtech advanced pad is great - it folds down into the size of a piece of A4 paper, does not require any stakes to secure it and it has never moved from it's position every time I have used it - even in gusts.

Is it heavy enough to push down some vegetation?
(I struggled to keep the previous pad flat if there was stuff underneath like high grass etc)

The profile of the Mini 2 is incredibly low to the ground mate - millimetres in fact. You will need a pad if not hand launching or taking off from something as flat as a table.

I wouldn't place it on tall grass but any field is perfectly fine

There have been a few occasions when I needed one.

Mainly in the woods in Sweden. When I was standing on a gravel road that was overtaken by nature to some extent.
It was hard to find a clear spot as there was grass coming through.
Not like the average green stuff you find in a backyard, but longer and only a couple of long blades.

That is my thought too.
So I might be placing my second order soon (charger and pad) but we will see!

Just press it down hard before placing the drone - it has a bit of weight to it

He's a lot more daring than I am and also a much more skilled pilot.  I don't blame him for not pushing it to the max, especially since he buys his drones and they are not given to him.
