A lovely, though frosty, morning today gave plenty of opportunity to try the new DJI Pocket 2.
Walked across the road and down into the gorge, and the sun was just rising behind the viaduct.

Nice composition but exposure is problematic.  Sky and highlights are completely washed out.

Maybe a case for getting the ND filters.

Do they clip on magnetically, I wonder, like the wide-angle lens?

Dont know! I think i would prefer one that doesnt though, possibly falling off with magnetic force, unless its very strong.

I can't see any other means of attachment. The wide-angle lens just clips on magnetically, though there's the tiniest of ridges around the lens to help you align it correctly.  I don't have much faith in the magnetic mount. Although it's quite strong enough to keep such a lightweight attachment in place, I shall forever be concerned about it getting knocked off and lost.

It's been a great day. If the ND filters are swappable with those from the Osmo 1, then they are a magnetic mount also

The full set is 45 quid. Price isn't excessive, but they're a magnetic attachment, like the wide-angle lens.
It's one of the things I'm not overjoyed with - I think they could easily become detached and, being so small, lost.

They're really tiny and lightweight - maybe the size of your little fingernail, and 3 to 4 mm thick. I don't think breakage would be an issue, but loss would be my main concern.  Inside the pocket case is a little magnetic enclosure to store the lens in. To test it, I turned the pocket over, with the camera removed, tapped it gently on my palm, and the lens dropped out into my hand.  I don't think that's a good design at all.

Definitely susceptible to being lost then - that is tiny

I might try it with the Mavic Mini, but not the M2Z.  And it would be a work of art to launch the Pocket 2 through there and catch it safely on the other side

Maybe a case for getting the ND filters.

This problem has nothing to do with ND filters.
That will just lower the total amount of light hitting the sensor.
(unless you are already at the fastest shutterspeed, which I don't believe judging by the frame)
You are hitting the well known issue of 'dynamic range' where the foreground is too dark and the sky is too light.
Every sensor has problems with this situation, but smaller sensors struggle more to overcome this gap between dark and light without losing information (wahsing out)

There is a couple of things you can do in these situations :
- Expose for the sky (which will give you dark foreground). Most of the time it is more easy to recover details from darker parts than try to get details out of washed out parts.
It is not a perfect solution, since there is a limit you will hit quite soon before noticing artifacts because the sensor just does not provide more information and you get these ugly effects.

- Expose for the sky AND shoot in raw. (this will give you a little bit more 'headroom' (information) to get details back from under / over exposed areas. But it requires more post processing.

- Use Auto Exposure Bracketing (not sure if that is present on the P2 as of now)
This will make your P2 take multiple shots with various exposures which you can combine later (merge) in post (or maybe the P2 can do that for you, I don't know yet)
This is by far the best method in high contrast situations with 2 drawbacks (everything that moves between the shots can cause 'ghosting' AND it requires post processing)
I use AEB a lot with all my camera's.

ND filters are only useful when you want a slow(er) shutterspeed and you 'need' this mostly for video OR in situations where you want this nice blurred water effect.

More food for thought. Thanks Monty. I'm still reading through the manual at the moment and getting familiar with all the controls.  Might take a while

Hi Blériot53, Montfrooij is correct,
In a nice shot like yours, the need is to bracket exposure. Even the best of cameras and sensors will struggle with a shot like that. The normal bracket should be between three and nine shots. Example of three might be -2EV 0EV +2EV, and then merge them together. I use a stand alone program called Photomatix, but there are others, including but not limited to, a program such as Lightroom. Once you do and experience this you will say Wow! Most dedicated photo cameras have built-in bracketing, and some even have built-in merging for the final result. But, it can be done on any camera setting the EV (+/-) manually (then, just need a program to merge them).
Here are a couple nice short YouTube video tutorials by Photomatix to explain. Please take a look if you have a few minutes of time.
Photomatix Pro Tutorial
If you get a chance to retake that photo with bracketing, I'm sure we would all love to see the results!

You can also merge bracketed exposure in Lightroom if you have that.
