3 days trying to update the last firmware (1.2.6) and it has been impossible to me. I talked with the chinese support for hours for nothing. Its only answer for my problems is: DO IT AGAIN. I tried it 50 times for nothing. It is the worst company I have ever seen in my life. Im very very frustrated.

When I did my update I followed the instructions perfectly and it didn't work.

Step 2- Prepare the Firmware Update Package
1. Download the firmware update package from the official DJI website (http://www.dji.com/product/phantom-3/download).
2. Insert the SD card into your PC. Extract the all downloaded files into the root directory of the SD card. Remove the SD card from your PC.
Ensure the aircraft is powered off then insert the SD card into the SD card slot on the camera.

This didn't work. On the SD card, along with the update .bin file, there was a .pdf file (How_to_Update_Firmware_en.pdf)  until I removed the .pdf file the update did not install. Once I removed the .pdf file the update installed like a champ.

I'm not sure this is your problem but I would remove the .pdf file from the SD card if its there.

I also deleted the pdf file but the upgrade always fail to me. Did you copy the bin file from a Windows computer? Im using a MAC and I think that maybe this is the problem.

Hi,
I have downloaded the firmware upgrade files for my new Phantom 3 pro and cannot extract the files. I have tried the Rar Expander app, The stuffit Expander and the Unarchiever  and all of them were unsuccessful.  I do not know what else do now. I already have purchased the quadcop over a week ago and not yet flown it a single time, because I wanted to upgrade first. Very complicated.
Also, since I do not have a micro SD card reader I directly connected the Phantom to my I-Mac, but it does not appear. Is there no connection possible? Do I really have to buy a card reader first to do this?
Which program to extract the files should I choose?I appreciate all the hints I can get

One would think that this being a DJI site that someone from DJI would make a statement as to what is going on with this new firmware....seems like a lot of folks are having issues. Im still on 1.1.9 and they are telling me I am taking a risk in not uploading the new 1.2.6 ....Can someone from DJI please clarify what is going on ?

I am new, and was having the same issue, spent a couple of hours with support/ chat, anyway get this, I bought the drone on Amazon and it suggested to purchase a 64GB SanDisk Ultra with a adapter to SD so after walking away for the rest of the day frustrated, I decided to open the SanDisk micro card and try it, I placed it into the micro to SD adapter and then into a USB adapter and sent the update to the card, without the (how to update the firmware) instructions,  I had deleted them from the download after printing them, I then place the card into the gimble and powered it up and instantly started to hear the four beeps repeated and the light on the gimble flashed red and green then after some time the light stopped flashing and it started beeping 3 times so I knew it was done, removed the card and checked for the TXT file and it was a success! then I placed the USB adapter into the controller and it wouldn't work, so I placed the card back into the gimble and attached the supplied USB cord from the gimble to the controller powered up the controller waited a minute then powered up the drone and everything updated,  What the hell?  hope this helps

Are you saying you updated the controller that way?  I was able to update the aircraft but I can't get the controller to update.  Tried it by plugging direct into the controller, plugging from the controller to the aircraft with the card in the gimbal and still nothing happened when I booted the controller.  Tried it with the aircraft on and off and it makes no difference.

So I'm getting a "Update Firmware" message in the flight status window.  It appears then goes away but does it every time I boot up.  The aircraft itself updated fine and I assume both of my batteries updated but I can't get the controller to cooperate.

Any suggestions, anyone?

i had similar problem. i updated the firmware 1.2.6 but there is no beeping sound, no led light in front gimbal, after half hour i shutdown the power n check the sd card, n there is "ur firmware is similar or older than this". what that mean??

I attached the usb cable to the controller and then to the gimble, with the card already installed, turned on the controller and waited at least 60 seconds then turned on the aircraft

Tom if you dont have a micro sd adapter you cant connect directly to computer... Get an sd adapter and for tx upgrade  hook tx to rx via the supplied cable... Read.. Personally mine has gone blind since 1.2.6. No video.. Waiting and waiting for new firmware....

Here is the procedure that I recommend.  First format the SD card in your computer, either Win or Mac.  Fat or Exfat both work.  Then download and extract the files.  Load the bin file only in the root directory of the SD card.  Insert the SD card into the gimbal.  Do not turn the Tx on.  Turn the craft on and let it upgrade you will see different led patterns and sometimes no leds.  The leds on the battery may go off during the battery upgrade.  The gimbal may go limp at times as well.  This is all normal.  During the upgrade you should hear a pattern of 4 beeps that repeats.  When the upgrade is done, you will hear a single beep followed by two beeps that repeat.  You can then turn the craft off.  I always check the SD card txt file.  You should see "success".

I just received my p3p Saturday and the first thing i did is the firmware update to 1.2.6. Everything went flawless updating the drone itself but could not get the controller to go through the update procedure. I've tried a micro sd usb adapter, multiple thumb drives, and have connected the controller directly to the gimbal. all unsuccessful. When i connect the controller to my phone it tells me the rc needs updated. I can't make this happen and i'm little hesitant to go fly it. I've tried to get hold of tech support but haven't received a response. This sucks, brand new and i don't want $1300 bucks to fly away!!!!!

Exact same here! I received my P3 Pro about 3 hours ago, started charging the batteries. Then tried firmware upgrade. Opposite to documentation, drone was having front LED solid red and rear LED blinking yellow during all process.
Text file was showing Success. So next I tried the remote but it does nott take the update.

I called the support and was told that RC 300B will not take it. DJI is aware of the issue and know that only RC 300A works. The guy said that they will release a new firmware soon but that for the time being we can fly no problem with only the drone updated to 1.2.6 if we have a 300B as remote controller. He said to don't pay attention to the warning message in the Pilot apps saying that the RC needs a firmware update.

So I did try a first flight and all went smooth but I was flying to very limited distance just to try it.

Yeah, after digging and digging into a bunch of forums I found that information. I have successfully flown mine since then. I also found that the update warning was only coming up on my android devices. Since then I've tried using the ipad air 2 and ipad mini 2 and both work flawless and do not give me the calibrate rc warning...

I just tried to update my firmware to the latest 1.2.6  by following the instructions. The whole install went as described with all the correct audible indicators. The problem is my status on the app is still saying updates required. Anyone else have this issue

You guys need to upgrade to the dji go and upgrade to the 1.3.2 firmware I upgraded mine last night doing a test flight today the new app is great and show your level of skills as a pilot and no more junior pilot on there

Hello all I am also experiencing these problems with my p3p. I've had mine since they got released and have never had any issues with firmware. I took my p3p out to get some shots everything was fine the next day I went to fly and I had no video signal. I called support they acted like they had no idea what I was talking about then I started looking around the forums and realized that there are quite few ppl experiencing this. A couple days later 1.3.2 came out and I figured that was the cure to my issue but nope can't even get it to take the firmware update. I can fly the unit it still takes stills and video but no video transmission. I gotta be honest this is quite literally the worst customer service I've ever received they wanted me to send back my unit and I was going to until I realized how long they were going to have it 8 weeks. After realizing that there were quite a few ppl with these issues I decided to wait it out with hopes that dji fixes the issue. The p3p starts the 1.3.2 update but then goes into a solid beep with a solid red led. I've tried everything cmon dji get it together.

i did mine in windows  windows is not the problem  FORMAT your card use fat32 or NTFS just drop the bin file on the card install took me about 1 hour  the light on the front of the drone will flash when they stop flashing its done regards dave

Also think about using a different micro SD card or change the adapter.
I wouldnt even think about buying a cheap 'copy' SD cards, just not worth the hassle
