Right click on the zip icon and chose "save as". You can download that way. Regular click does not download but the file is there (and it works, I have upgraded mine)
To answer the other questions in the OP:
"Factory reset" only wipes out the user settings, it does not revert back to "factory" firmware; so it does not affect a firmware update. Actually it is recommended to perform a factoy reset after a firmware update (some updates does not funtion properly if you don't do so).
Unlike DJI drones, there are no image adjustment settings (contrast, saturation, etc.) in Osmo Action, or Osmo Pocket for that matter. The only things you can adjust are the exposure and the white balance. Anything else has to be done at post...
