Just got a notification there is an update for the mini 2.
Installing as we 'speak'

Just made 2 pleasant flights (old firmware) so I'm curious what the difference will be.

From the app it states :
- Added support to unlock more GEO zones
- Significantly improved flying stability in environments with interference.
- Fixed rare bug where the aircraft could not take off.

just installed too, but it's too dark too fly today.
Install went smoothly.

Will try out tomorrow.

This is a bugfix update from what I see.

I heard the mavic air had the gimbal issue as well and they fixed it with a firmware update.

I think they focused on the 'real' issues first.
(like in safety / flight stuff)
But I'm not sure of course!

From my understanding, this update is about critical issues.
They put it in a 'positive' way, but I think they found some serious bugs that made the M2 go mad.
They fixed that.
I would worry more about flyaways now than some orange line.
(not that they don't have to fix that too, but priorities are important)

I'm not sure about that.

Its a design flaw. Billy Kyle explained it in a video. The mini 2 can tilt more than the mini. In an attempt to not show props, the gimbal shoots down. Then, when it gets to a less tilted angle, it gets back to the requested tilt, as now the props won’t show.

Yea I’ve emailed multiple times and they say they can replace my mini 2 but I told them there’s no sense in waiting weeks for a new drone if it’s going to do the same thing. I’m about 90% positive it would still have gimbal dip issues because there are a few YouTube videos on it already and tons of comments. Therefor it’s not just my drone. It’s the majority of not all mini 2. I do think it’s fixable though. Especially since it’s pretty much identical to the mini 1 and I’ve heard the mini 1 rarely does it.

To my best knowledge Billy is as well informed as we are.

There is a lot of 'homemade' wisdom out there.
Sometimes they get it right, sometimes they don't.
In this case I have no idea if his logic is true.
But because DJI is very closed, we might never know.
In the past we have seen fixes they never acknowledged were made.
Maybe it is a cultural thing.
Don't want to say they did something wrong.
I don't know.

Updated to this latest firmware (which went without a hitch) a short time ago and went out directly for a flight. The signal quality has definitely improved and where I was getting interference yesterday, in the same spot flying today I am getting none!

Thank you DJI for making this Mini 2 even better! It truly is THE perfect flying machine.
