I've been reseaching Renaat, Polar Pro, and SRP ND filters but I'm having a hard time making a decision. Any help from folks actually using these products would be greatly appreciated.
I'm just interestred in the best product, nothing else.
Just ordered a set from Renaat based on other feedback I've seen here. Looked at a few others. Bought a Tiffen 37mm ND. It works well enough, but as others have expressed as well, I have to wonder if the weight will be a long term issue for the gimbal.
I've been using the ND8 CP and ND16 CP on my phantom3. Same Same as inspire. I find the the ND16 CP was too dark on overcast day and you had to run shutter speed at 1/50 to get good light but there was too much blur. That's at 100 ISO. The ND8 CP did very well at both 4K and 1080P at shutter speed 1/60. Video was pretty good. If I had to buy one, it would be the ND8 CP from SRP. I'd only use the ND16 CP on a very bright sunny day with sun overhead- no overcast.
I own the full set of filters from Renaat. I can't complain really about their quality or how well they work. For the money... I'm very happy with the results I'm achieving and Renaat was a pleasure to work with! Would I like a CP in addition to the ND?... Yes, and that's what SRP is offering. I've used SRP ND/CP filters on a GoPro and they are really quality products as well but I can't speak for the new I1 versions as I haven't used them myself.
You should always use 1/48, 1/60, 1/120 shutter speeds at 24, 30 and 60fps video (respectively). The Inspire lacks 1/48 and (iirc) 1/120 so adjust to 1/50 and 1/125.
Basically, always shoot at shutter speed that is 2x your frame rate unless you're going for a specific look.
