I recently purchased a Smart Controller for use with my Mavic 2 Pro. I immediately upgraded the Smart Controller firmware to V01.00.0820. On my second flight, at less than 300 meters (1000 feet) distance away (over water), I lost connection and the controller locked up.
After a little research, I downgraded to an earlier version of the Smart Controller firmware, V01.00.0700 and I have not had any dropouts. I am running aircraft firmware 01.00.0670.
My question is, have other people has this issue with 01.00.0820 flying an M2P? Can anyone at DJI offer any advice on this issue?
Just had my firmware downgraded back to 0700 since it doesn't support the mini2 yet, and I don't have a mavic air2. And my mavic2 pro had a few disconnections and the app crashed once, while running the 0820 firmware. Won't be upgrading the firmware at least until a new version with mini2 compatibility comes out.

Thanks, that's good to know. Yes, may as well stick with .0700 with the M2P.
Thanks John. That is very interesting. I upgraded online rather than via DJI Assistant 2. I will give it a try with DJI Assistant 2 when I get the courage to again risk disconnects and lockups (in fact what I can do is to test with a dual connection using the original controller along with the Smart Controller).
Hi, Chook. Thanks for reaching out and we're sorry to read about the difficulties you're encountering. Kindly check and confirm the version of both the aircraft and the DJI GO 4 during the time that you have encountered the transmission issue. If you haven't tried, both the Smart Controller and the Mavic 2 Pro can be firmware upgraded or refresh via the DJI Assistant 2. The available versions will prompt once either the Smart Controller or the Mavic 2 Pro is connected. We suggest to update them separately if not yet updated or refresh the firmware if they're both on the latest version already. You can also update the DJI GO 4 separately by downloading the latest APK file on our site: https://www.dji.com/downloads/djiapp/dji-go-4

Once I had a problem caused by upgrading online on the SC. After reinstalling the very same version using the assistent, the problem was solved.
Had 4 flawless flights after rolling back to the 700 firmware, but unfortunately the app crashed again today, at the exact same location where it crashed last time with the 820 firmware. So my problems might not be the 820 firmware. By the way, I've done all my updating via the desktop Assistant app.
