Overview:
  • Date: 2020.12.28
  • Aircraft Firmware: v01.00.0511
  • Remote Controller: v02.00.1200
  • DJI Fly App iOS: v1.2.2
  • DJI Fly App Android: v1.2.2

What’s New?
  • Added cruise control for Free mode in Hyperlapse (requires DJI Fly v1.2.2 or later for iOS version. Support for Android version will be added later). Exercise caution when using cruise control.
  • Optimized RTH. If the aircraft is at a distance of 5 m to 50 m from the Home Point when RTH is initiated, the aircraft adjusts its orientation and flies to the Home Point at the current altitude.

Notes:
  • If the update fails, restart aircraft, remote controller, and DJI Fly or DJI Assistant 2 for Mavic, and retry.
  • The DJI Fly v1.2.2 for Android version needs to be downloaded from dji.com.

Bought smart controller 2 months ago fly app ver 1.1.6 now were on 1.2.2 so prob 4 updates and dji says 1.2.0 doesnt work with the controller, so consequentially i dont get the latest firmware and safety features so not happy. Dji support just say there forwarding to the development team so i guess thats it.
Also as a  side note , how does this affect my warranty if anything goes wrong without safety firmwares being relected  ?

I installed it. I made three batteries flight no problem at all.
Tested RTH in less than 6meters it returns to home now but in the height that it is.
Cruise control in hyperlapse is what exactly? It is the same like before.

Not for Android!

As last time it was a big mess ... this time I will wait to see how it works. And unfortunately DJI didn't think about Android users in the same way that it thought about IOS.
It is a pity that it is so.
They should have waited a few more days and launched for both!

Any chance we could get cruise control for normal flight as well. Would be really handy for some nice cinematic shots

Yeah totally agree sent it back after a month loss of signal and then wouldnt connect to assistant 2 for mavic on pc. Sent me  a refurbed one so complained so got  a new one. And now cant upgrade it as you say a waste of money and cant use properly with added features. Not impressed at all..

I bought the SC 2 weeks ago.. you can sideload Fly 1.2.2 and if you install the android SDK, from what I've read it installs the 32 bit version for the 32bit SC.  People in the other threads have had no issues at all running 1.2.2 on the SC.

I just sideloaded it on mine and we'll see how it behaves.  Just went to Lightning browser, to dji.com/mobile/downloads and selected the dji fly apk. downloaded, went to file mgr and installed. ran app, sync'd to MA2. charging batteries now to test it out.

Do so at your own peril but like I said.. I'm not the first one to load 1.2.2 on the SC for the MA2.
Here's the thread where it's be done already, scroll toward the bottom:  https://forum.dji.com/forum.php? ... D568%26typeid%3D568

Thanks i also side loaded it when i first got the controller  first flight after lost connection twice so deleted it and sent controller in couldnt trust it tbh. If you go o. DJI website and downloads find the fly app and it states 1.1.6 is the the one to use anything later is not compatible with S/C thats poss why had my disconnections. But report how it flys and might revisit it.

I've had 1.2.2 on Android for a few days now, but I got it from the Huawei store because I have such a phone.
So people with Huawei, I guess, check there as well and can update it.

I updated the firmware and took the smart controller running 1.2.2 out for a spin.  Drone performed well in initial tests but the drone attitude/orientation indicator (on the little map) still doesn't show correctly but if you tap on the map it does show it flying right over the street I was on and pointed in the right direction.

After this little test I decided to remove the update on the SC and take it back to 1.1.6 and wait for the official update from DJI for the SC.

Good idea as it could invalidate your warranty, thats why ill wait but who knows how long it will take, frustrating tho as we miss out on any improvements.

Problem is.. if you have sideloaded 1.2.2 and your MA2 bites the dust, will DJI cover you if you have Refresh on your MA2?  I doubt it because you were using "Unsupported" software to control it. You know thats what they will say.

For Android users there is a third bullet from the firmware update notice: "he DJI Fly v1.2.2 for Android version needs to be downloaded from dji.com". Why would DJI say you "need" to download from the DJI site, instead of "Requires Fly v1.2.2"? Won't the 1.2.2 eventually be available on Google Play?

Open your browser on your tablet and go to : dji.com/mobile/downloads/ and you can download and install the android 1.2.2 apk.  I just did it on my Asus tablet. Zero Problems. haven't flown with it yet though.

There must be some reason not to release an official SC-version of 1.2.2. I’ll use the stock controller and my iPhone until it’s released. I just wish DJI would prioritize their own hardware little higher, even more now when they released a MA2 package including the SC.

My comment wasn't about how to download the apk off of the DJI download page (I did that a couple of days ago and installed) but more on why DJI would direct users to their download site ("needs to be downloaded from dji.com") rather than saying something like "Requires DJI Fly v1.2.2 or later" as in this screenshot from FW update 1101.

Some users have reported disconnections at 200m distance, including completely crazy behavior with 1.2.2 which even led to a crash with damage. Has anyone been able to verify a normal flight with 1.2.2 and the standard controller on a longer distance?!?

The version at the Android Play Store is the previous version so won't take advantage of the new features. I went direct to DJI and got the latest version 1.2.2 there. That along with the latest Firmware release fixes the DNG issue, the color streak at the top left, and a few other tweaks.
For those who complained about needing to do the IMU calibration repeatedly.....that is because you may be using a "hand landing" and turning it upside down to stall the motors. It sees the IMU error and than requires a recalibration. Normal landing won't cause that to happen.
