Hi,

Just ran into a really stupid bug in FW 1.0.10.00.40 when trying to live stream through an existing Wifi network, where I received the following error message:

SmartSelect_20201230-223321.jpg

Unable to join network

The Wi-Fi name (SSID) can only
contain upper and lower case letters,
numbers, spaces, underscores, and
the following special characters:
@#? Check and try again

OK

That is a major issue because many wifi network names will include other characters than this very limited set. The IEEE standard 803.11-2012 allows from 0 to 32 octets, that might be encoded in UTF-8. Artificially limiting the SSID will prevent it from working in any country that uses extended character sets.

Note that this setting is about connecting to an existing Wifi network that might not be under the control of the user. It is not about setting the action cam's own wifi network. Even if it was, it would still be a very bad decision.

Proposed fix: follow the Wi-Fi standard and accept any valid SSID. See section 8.4.2.2 of the standard for details.

Thanks for fixing this.

Take care, stay safe!

Stephen
