In Subcategory A2 the distance of the drone from uninvolved people must be 50 metres.

Legacy.  All drones on the market are legacy.
Means you can fly it in A3 (Far from people) or if you do an A2CoC certification, A2 (but 50m from people not 30).

Without the A2CoC though, you're in A3, 150m from any build up areas, no uninvolved people in the flight area.

Not unless the owner has done an A2CoC certificate.

Its A3 without that.

Clear gnirtS, thank you!

Let's hope that DJI will manage to classify M2P as C2 Class.

Unlikely to be possible on existing models.
And they certainly have no business incentive to do so at all.  There's no reason why they would.

A2CoC is the best option.  That buys you 2 years.

it's not an option, it's a fact. all current not diy drones up to 2kg falls into a2 category till 2023.
if retractive c certification of mavic 2 line could be done, that would be very nice.

It doesnt make business sense for DJI to spend the money in either case.
Mavic 3 next year once its sorted and people are working and travelling again.

Remember even then, if a mavic 3 is certified, it'll STILL need an A2CoC to operate under that category.
The way it is now, if you buy a drone >250g, even if its type certified, you're flying in A3 (far from people) unless you do an A2CoC on top.

The new UK rules, 150 metres from everyone and everywhere for my A3 M2P, I think I might have to buy a Mini 2, a big step back from the M2P, however I will be able to fly it more often in more places than the M2P. May even just call it a day regarding drones, still debating in my brain cell.

Or just do an A2CoC which is far cheaper than stepping back for a cheaper, lower performance drone (about £99 or so) allowing you to operate in A2 for 2 more years.

With a C of C it only enables you to get to 50m from uninvolved people. A drone less than 250g, you are now free as the attached. Thats a lot of freedom, obviously you still need to conduct a safe operation and not endanger anyone.

A2CoC allows the mavic 2 to be flown with pretty much identical restrictions to the old rules in most countries although it eliminates the built-up area clause..

Yes you get more freedom with a smaller drone but also suffer with the significantly reduced image quality for photo and video, less duration, less resistance to wind and so on.

If you can accept those limitations then yes, its the right way to go.
If not, A2CoC is a far better option.

Bit the bullet and ordered a Mini 2.
