This is a new entry in the series:

Things you really shouldn't do.

You can fly in the fog, you even can fly in moderate rain for a short time.

What you can NOT do is, fly in icey fog. It will accumulate as ice on your propellers
and you will have only a very short flight time. It is a good idea to fly over soft snow, as you,
with very little doubt, will end up in the same.

So: be careful in icey fog, as it will come to haunt you.

Cheers and a happy new year to all!

I'm a fixed wing airplane pilot.  I can tell you from personal experience that building up ice on your airplane can happen very fast, and can be very scary!  Not conducive to a good flight!

Yes, it is scary!
But at least I kept some control, so I could direct it over soft snow.

Always have a backup plan

I guess it wouldn't take much icing to bring down a Mavic Mini. I'll stick to kinder weather

No risk - no reward
You get the best shots in rather nasty weather, I suppose...
See my Christmas video: dark, cold, but a nice result

Hello there Gregor Queck. Thank you for reaching out and for sharing these information and your valued insights with regards to this matter. In addition flying in heavy fog or clouds may make the gimbal wet, leading to temporarily failure. The gimbal will recover it's full function once it is dry. For reference I will post some Flight Environment Requirements. Thank you for your support and fly safe always.
