Great explanantion, thanks, but with one thing I'm a little bit confused. I think the outer circle and the distance between the dotted circles represent distances depending on the distance to the drone, e.g. 1 circle to the next = 20m or 100m and so on. But what does 15 m mean?

The outer ring = 15 meter, well in this flight it was.

ah ok, so fixed at about 15 meters I think. This means that HP and RC are always on the outer ring when the distance between the pilot and the drone is greater than 15 meters. Only at a shorter distance do both points move inwards. I am just thinking whether it would not be "more understandable" if the symbol of the drone would rotate instead of HP and RC.

As JJB mentioned the 15m represent the radius of the circle from middle to outer layer as per my several test (15 flights).
I am not sure if that will affect if the device used is larger or smaller, but logically based on App developing and GUI, it should all worked the same. Appreciate if someone could let me know if yours wasn't.

As far as indicating which direction the drone is to point your antenna the new compass is as much use as a chocolate teapot

At best it shows as a tiny blue spec peeking out from under the home point icon, almost invisible on my iphone screen. Once the drone is more than a few metres away it seems like the icons change scale so the direction indicator is completely obscured - the further away the drone is ( which is when you REALLY need to see at a glance the direction the drone is in ) the worse the issue becomes.

To me this makes 1.2.2 unusable for all but the shortest range flights.

Please reinstated the old, easy to see direction indicator
