You're very welcome.  I figured it might be a sea wall.  What impressed me was it was so straight.  I have see other sea walls that aren't nearly as straight.

It was built about 60 years ago so I have no idea how they got it that straight.

Obviously they had a superb survey team.  Believe it or not survey equipment has not changed that drastically over the last 40 years or so.  But, then again, once surveyed it's up to the construction crew to follow the lay out.

I really should read up on the history of the wall,  it was built shortly after the entire island flooded.  Whats more scary is a little off shore in the thames is a sucken ship full of explosives,  which is cordoned off to stop people going near to it incase they trigger an explosion.

Yeah, that sunken ship with explosives onboard is a bit scary.  I loved to scuba dive around sunken ships but not those with explosives.  How long has that ship been down?

Thanks for the interesting read.  Hard to believe that they now plan to remove the 3 masts.  Not sure which company will bid on that dangerous evolution.

The masts have become a Mecca for paddle boarders the last few years so Im not surprised they want to remove them, although what a paddle boarder could do to cause an issue I  dont know.

The only thing I could think of would be if the masts are that unstable and fall on top of the remaining carcass and set off an explosion.  Pretty far fetched thought but then again who knows.

Thats a good point actually.   We had a huge sonic boom yesterday,  shook the whole house.  Turned out to be a fighter jet going over at around 1000mph to intercept a incoming plane that lost ratio comms for a moment I wondered if the ship had gone boom.

There is nothing like the sound of a jet passing over when it breaks the sound barrier.  We used to have one of our jets do that when we were demonstrating power projection to foreign military dignitaries during a deployment.  Even though you know it is coming it still startles you a bit.

It was a bit of a shock. We don’t get that normally.  Everything in the house rattled.

The jet must have been on full military power and fairly low to rattle houses.  If they are high enough you usually only hear the "boom" with no rattling.

If it was a Typhoon they can fly at Mach 2.0+ so they can easily break the sound barrier.

Yes it appears it was a typhoon and reported 1000mph but I have no idea of height.
