I know that it is in MA2 (can be disabled in Fly app at the moment AFAIK) but is there some reciever that can read that ID information? Is it widely used in aircrafts, drones or by pilots? Airsence is integrated in Fly app. I know that not so many small planes has ADS-B out but I still find better to enable it in Europe if the HW is included in 3W units, even with limited functionality that I'm aware of.
There is very little to be done to initiate remote ID . There is very limited safety in Airsense. People flying drones can see Manned Aircraft for many miles and if drone users fly within the rules they should never have any problems. But on the other hand if manned aircraft enter zones that drones fly in, this can be a problem for them, they have no way of knowing if they’re drones flying in this space, but a mobile phone with a simple app can inform them if they’re drones flying in this space, so they know to be aware . So Airsense does not give any reassurance to manned craft but Remote ID does, also ATC can see if craft has entered controlled airspace, if its commercial with permission or if its flying illegal they can inform Manned Aircraft if there is likely to be a problem.
Remote ID also has great advantages for commercial drone flying in controlled airspace, it allows ATC to know when you begin flying and when you’ve finished flying. Airsense is very limited and if everything is ok it should be implemented, But my guess is Airsense will not be very useful, i can get much of the information on free apps. |
