Hasn't that changed under the new EASA regulations,  especially now you can fly the mini 2 so close to people.

the EASA rules don't have this limitation.
But we almighty Dutch Aviation Authority have not make a clear statement about this.
So we fallback to the old rules.
That don't allow for night flying.
There is a huge debate about this in the drone community.
But so far this is the outcome.

So its not clear if you've adopted EASA or that you've adopted some of it?  I thought the whole point was to unify the rules so people who travel across Europe get follow the same rules everywhere.

There is a difference between intention and implementation.
The base rules are the same, but every country can apply more strict rules (not less strict) if they want to.

But I still think we are better of as a EU member.
Even though it feels like some (other) countries benefit more than we do, we are very dependent on free trade, so a big open market is good for us.

That is the official government site.
But unfortunately that is not always up to date.
Still at least you have a valid excuse for not knowing what to do.

I'm sure people will find solutions.
But with this big changes that are so intertwined with many operations it is impossible to tell what the real 'difference' is now that the UK has left the building.
People that were against it, can argue that it is because of Brexit, but you can just as easily find why this is not the case and Covid or something else is the problem.

SHMBO have friends kids that were planning on going to Dubai this morning to avoid lockdown.  But he came down with symptoms last night so now has to get another test so he's missed the change.

Her friend told the kid that when he came back he was isolating somewhere else but it didnt seem to put him off until he got symptoms.
