More importantly, I want to know if it is safe to update the firmware before 1.2.4. is available (considering the advertised dependency on said application version)..
I updated to the latest firmware (V01.01.0610) and also to DJI Fly 1.2.4 on Android (via the DJI website), and am experiencing significant issues now with the Mavic Air 2, after a previously faultless experience before the updates. The only change made to phone since previous flight was updating the DJI Fly app from 1.2.1 to 1.2.4 and the MA2 firmware update. Versions confirmed via the DJI Fly app.
The app itself lags or freezes for long periods during flight, for seconds up to a minute or more. Android sometimes prompts to kill the unrespondive app. Video feed is frequently frozen, and changing camera modes via the app freezes or lags for 5-30 seconds or more. When shooting a pano, I can see the drone taking the different shots in the appropriate manner real time, but the app freezes for several seconds or longer after, then plays the set of audio shutter sounds rapidly in response to the pano in a rush, and long after the drone finished shooting. This all happened initially on a longer flight, meaning a blind RTH which was *not* fun (massively exacerbated by the appearance of a low flying news heli after my launch and fly away, and it was drifting and hovering around my launch area of all the bad luck), but also happens with the drone hovering 50 feet away, 10 feet up. This issue has repeated after several flights and power cycles of phone/controller/MA2. As I said before, my experience before this update was flawless.
To make matters worse, I connected my MA2 to my PC, fired up DJI Assistant 2 and the only firmware option given is the current version; no downgrade options. I feel kind of stuck - it does not feel safe to fly with this current firmware update, but I don't see any options to roll back via DJI Assistant 2, and there is no "Restore Factory Defaults" button on the firmware update screen, either....
