Hi, natebrown. Thanks for reaching out! The DJI Mini 2 aircraft can only be updated via the DJI Fly. Connecting the aircraft to the DJI Assistant 2 will give you access only to the Flight Recorder.

Hi Natebrown,

it might be a bit confusion at the moment.

There is the Assitant 2 vers. 2.0.14 which is compatible with the Mavic 2 series, Smart controller, etc.
and there is the Assitant 2 (consumer drone series) vers. 2.1.0 which is compatible with the Mini 2.

It could have been nice to have just one version for all your drones, but no ...
Download the Assistant 2 (consumer drone series) for your Mini 2 from the DJI website
https://www.dji.com/mini-2/downloads

But ... there is no option for the Mini 2 to install firmware. The only thing it does is download the logs from the Mini 2.

Since I have a M2P, an SC and a Mini 2, I could install one version for them all. Using the 2.1.0 version gives problems with the M2P and SC, so now I got both versions on my pc.

I hope the future will give us:
- 1 version (that works) for all the drones
- be able to update the firmware of the Mini 2

The Mini 2 must be connected with a USB cable about 2-3 seconds after turning on the drone. Then, in the Windows device manager, check whether a new device, i.e. our drone, has appeared in the ports tree. If not, there is a com port conflict. In this case, experimentally change the com numbers for the remaining devices in the system until our drone is detected. Obviously we install Assistant 2 for mini 2 first as drivers are needed. It should work.

Hi Natebrown,

it might be a bit confusion at the moment.

Hey. Thanks. I have been using the Consumer drones one. But it still doesn’t recognize. I turn it on and then plug it in to the computer via USB cable. Any idea what’s wrong. And yes. The computer recognizes it.

Thanks!

Hi Natebrown,

if your pc recognizes the drone, it should be technically correct as for the usb connection. You see the drone on your windows pc, not just that the drone in charging, right?

You started the assistent program before you plugged in the drone?

And put the drone on after starting the assistent and plugging the drone in?

Are you using a proper cable? There are differences.

I find with the mini2 it is very touchy on the timing. I have found the best was is to open DJIA2, plug one end of cable to PC, turn the drone on, and as soon as you hear the start up tone plug the other end of cable to drone. Sometimes it takes a while to connect.
FYI: in order to update versions you will need to 1st go to the djiasistant2/djiengine folder and open the file "default.ini". then change all the zeros to ones and save. Hope this helps

Hi, natebrown. Thanks for reaching out! The DJI Mini 2 aircraft can only be updated via the DJI Fly. Connecting the aircraft to the DJI Assistant 2 will give you access only to the Flight Recorder.

Not so. On Aug. 20/2023, after a few attempts, access through Assistant2 was gained. It then allowed a refresh of my Mini2. After the refresh Assistant 2 dropped the connection and then wouldn't reistablish the connection. So, the App occasionally works but it does have issues.

After turning on the MIni2 immediately plug the cable in. Do not wait for a green light! Try to accomplish the plug-in in the first flash or two of the rear light---this is what has gotten the App to work for me! Also, have your cable plugged into your computer first. This way, if you have the drone and the cable next to one another a connection can be made quickly.

Hi everybody,

Sorry for coming over on the same issue. I cannot connect the DJI Assitant 2 to my DJI Mini 2SE. The only thing that happens is that the PC connects with the SD Card in the drone. But nothing happens on the Assistant screen. I need only to access the flight records in order to download them.

Thanks for any help!
