I tried turning the screw to remove the device holder but it just spins in place. I can't think of how to remove this thing.

Any ideas?

Try applying some pressure to the left side of the screw with a small Phillips screwdriver as you unscrew it.

Is the screw spinning? Or the metal ring at the bottom of the screw (on the left side)? If the ring is spinning, perhaps you can hold it in place with pliars.

Yeah, it's the ring that the screw goes into. It's just spinning in the plastic mount. I guess I can try pliers later. I gotta get this thing off as I ordered the metal mount. This plastic one came cracked at the hinge where the actual device holder pivots and it's wobbly as everyone else is experiencing.

Mine seemed like it was just spinning in place also but it was actually unscrewing but you just couldn't tell.
Then it lifted out.  Make sure you remove the other screw first so you are able to lift it out.

Get an RMA
Send it in. They have a new facility,
You should have it repaired & back to you in..say 8-10 weeks

Yeah, thats exactly why I chose to buy a new device holder and not RMA it or complain to DJI.

Funny thing is that I tried using pliers to to get this thing off and that didnt work but I did tighten the other  part of it and its not wobbling anymore. I still have to get this thing off because I have the metal replacement on the way. I did notice that I could probably just rip this old one off. It's not very well built.

I'm not going to go Hulk on it. The plastic that surrounds the screw is pretty weak.

Use your magic touch... ;-)

Or give it the evil eye, and put the voodoo hex on it. Hahaha

I ripped it off. I twisted it until it broke. Very easy.

When you had it loose (spinning) did you try to re-tighten it up?  If so did it tighten back up?  I would have unscrewed again and tip the RC sideways and see if the screw would just fall out.  But if that wouldn't work either I guess tearing it off was your only recourse.

I tried everything a sane person would think to try.

I got it off easily by twisting the mount to snap it. I got the old mount off and the new, metal mount on.

So.. got a Metal Device Holder and want to replace the plastic one.  I'm being told I have to remove the "grub screw" and then the shaft will drop out, and then put the shaft into the new one and use the grub screw to secure it.  Problem is.. can't get the damn screw out!
Went to Home Depot and they tried and couldn't help either.

Anyone have an idea?!

mine was the same i had to cut it off in the end, the thread insert just spins in the plastic, it  comes from us tightening the screw to stop it moving and damaging it.

Its a PITA to get off but i used wire cutters to get through the plastic.

It's NOT an issue with finding the right tool.  Spent almost a half an hour at Home Depot yesterday with a few of their guys trying to get it out.  We think (still not sure) it's a 4mm screw... but at this point, it's just not coming off.
I have thought about just cutting it up and getting to it that way.. but the new one requires the screw from the old one.
Bought it from Taco RC and not too happy with their support or the fact they didn't have any instructions or internet video guides..  guess it's going back to them.
I see on EBay there are a few other versions to buy that they say come with the post so I don't have to mess with the plastic one from DJI~
