Out for a country walk yesterday, we happened upon these two farmers felling trees.
Just at the perfect moment for a slow-motion capture with the Pocket 2.

Hi Daf, thanks.  We could hear the chain-saws as we approached. They cut through at an angle to about 3/4 depth, then pull it over. We just hung around at a safe distance until the opportune moment. Only a couple of minutes.  Right place, right time. Nice bit of luck

Indeed,   Funnily enough I sharpened my chainsaw on Friday in preparation for a day of cutting logs on Monday.   Busy week of chores this week it appears.

That was my job for 14 years - until we moved to this place which is all electric.  It used to be an annual event. Bulk delivery by the neighbouring farmer. Then the chain-sawing, axe-splitting and stacking.
It was quite fun at first, but became a chore towards the end as we got progressively older.

Se get all our wood from the local tree surgeon for free and then some will need cutting and splitting.   so threeish time a year I spend a day cutting and splitting.  This year he gave out details to a mate of his and we've already had two truck loads,  took me 2 hours to move it 50 ft.   

Nicely timed capture Blériot.    You seem to always have interesting morning walks.

Yeah! There's a whole Winter's worth right there. A very efficient source of renewable energy. We have a saying in France:  "  Wood as a fuel warms you three times.  Once when you cut it, once when you stack it, and once when you burn it"

Nicely done. And there was "good time" to get away, if one should stand under the Tree ;-)

Yes, I have seen that video before, and went so far as to enquire about booking a flight.  Like many other things in the World, that dream is on hold for the foreseeable, until the pandemic is over.

As far as I can see, it's produced in France, but I'm not sure where it is. But could be a great experience to come on a Flight!

Strangely, the sound recorded in real time, even though the video was slo-mo. SO I had to edit the sound clip to more-or-less coincide with the tree hitting the ground.
