Last week temperatures well below freezing, and now a beautiful day with temperatures higher or normal. It was a bit windier, but the air 2 could handle it.
And traveling does not allow us yet, because of that nasty virus, we continue to explore our own region.
The southern part of West Flanders is more or less a kind of country on its own. Almost all Flemish people speak Dutch and French, but also a dialect. And the region we visited is called "Bachten de kupe". An area sandwiched between the river "De Ijzer" and the Belgian coast, the North Sea.
That "ijzer" plain was once a battlefield during the 1st WW. People have always fought against the water, but during that great war this water was a secret weapon. A certain lock keeper decided to open all locks so that the whole area was flooded. Which, of course, turned out to be in our favor.
Now this area is rich in nature, bird paradise. And also a beautiful walking area.

Beautiful footage. We all like to travel to see and film things, but we forget about the amazing things nearby.
that is true, and can enjoy it, by bike, on foot, ... and hope that the catering industry, café can open again. After a brisk walk I like a fresh beer.
