Hi, I've got an Osmo Pocket 1st type, because of the longer lens, and seen I need an Android 5+ snartphone (or an iPhone) to activate it.
Now, mine is still running 4.4 and it does not support upgading. Flashing a new ROM is also difficult, since the russian brand is out of business: It's a Yotaphone 2.
My question is: What if I activate the Osmo Pocket by the phone of one of my friends? Can I then use it without the need to ask for him/her anymore?

Yes. After activation, you don't need to use the Pocket with a phone again.

Hi, numberSix. Thanks for reaching out and posting your concern. As already been mentioned, yes you can use the Osmo Pocket standalone after being activated. It would be better that you also proceed with the firmware update before returning your friend's phone.
