Good afternoon, I've booked a walking holiday to Cappadocia for September, and home to take my Mavic ( I tried to go last year, but Covid regulations got in the way) Could anyone please point me in the direction of how to register as a hobby flier? Are drones permitted in Cappadocia?

Thank you in advance!

Chris, I've found this website to be quite useful and full of information.  Check it out as it might answer any and all questions you have or at least provide contact points.

I bought a slightly used Mini 2 and I love it.  Very nice upgrade to the original Mini and just a small step below the MA2.  Mini 2 is perfect size for travel.

What do you mean?  If I buy it tomorrow, before it’s classified, how does that help?
Isn’t it already classified in the UK?
Sorry haven’t been following all the news!

Sorry haven’t been following all the news!

Currently there are no EU (EASA) classified drones available,   so the Mini & Mini 2 falls into a legacy category weighing less than 250 grams,   that means it can legally overfly people (but not crowds) and be close to property etc.  When (of if its) classified it would fall into the C1 category because that category doesn't use drone weight but uses the MTOM or maximum take off weight which will be higher than 250 grams.  At this point if you have the C label you loose the legal ability to overfly people etc.

This video explains the loop hole well,  but you do need to watch all of it or at least from 15 minutes to the end.

The vaccine data and roll out speed is looking promising,  but seeing the behaviour of people over the weekend when the sun came out Im again not so sure.

Yes, but given the behaviour of our ‘leaders’ ....safer on the beach with a salty sea breeze than indoors.  Plod turning people away, yet it’s fine to queue to click and collect the latest play station etc in the day that that launched....Stay safe.
