Interesting footage.    I think I remember seeing a news article a year or so back about some gum trees in SA being poisoned.  That's a shame as gum trees are very beneficial.  I remember a trip or two to Australia and the bees love getting the nectar from the trees.  Gum tree wood is also excellent hardwood for carpentry.  The nice thing about harvested gum trees is that the stump re-sprouts new growths.

Yea, hut they are not indiginous. I dont know about the poisoning of the trees but it is a ahame - I have a certain love of trees, streams and mountains.

The bees were not poisoned.  The bees just preferred the nectar from the gum trees over other local trees.

Not certain but guess it was for moving whine and stuff - that being in whine country. Dis-used now since we have no longer a railway to speak of, all done by minibus taxi I guess.
And we used to have a pretty good extensive railway service, then the "powers" ordered trains for millions that were either too wide or too narrow for the existing tracks.
